Hello, have several questions in regards to bike racks in bed with a camper shell.

Will a bike fit in 09 double cab short bed with a camper shell on?

    What are my options?

Any pictures of bike racks would be appreciated?

    Thanks for any information!

I don't have a pic at the moment but I bought some of these cheap bike mounts before I bought my topper. http://www.jensonusa.com/Truck-Bed-Racks/Avenir-Fork-Block-Bike-Mount I bolted them into the forward rail and they worked great (remove your front wheel and connect the fork to the mount. One I got my topper I removed the mounts from the rail, cut a piece of wood to fit snugly across the floor and bolted the mounts to it. So basically my bikes sit in the bed of the truck facing backwards (with the front wheels removed of course). I have an access cab (6' bed) but I think it may work in a short bed. You'll have to measure to be sure. The only thing I have to do is drop the seats before putting into the bed. Hope this helps.

Yes, great information, exactly what I had in mind. What size piece of wood did you use? Also how do you keep it from sliding? Thanks again for the useful info!!!

I used a piece of approximately 1 1/2" X 6" X not exactly sure how long. It was just a piece of scrap wood I had laying around that was nice and flat. It fits very tightly across the bed and does not slide at all. I think that's the most important thing, it has to be pretty much wedged in there. The bikes never move around, it's very secure. If I need to use the bed for something else I just take the piece of wood out.

This may be off-topic and perhaps you've already considered it, but if you have a hitch you can buy a hitch mount. Problem solved, maybe. ;)

As a matter of fact I have a bike rack I'm not using no more. It's not top of the line but it's in good condition.

If your question is does it blow. The answer is yes. Even on my LB F250. I would imagine a little narrow SB is just more so. You have to crawl on your knees into the bed. The duck awl or crawl on you knees past the bikes to the front. Break em loose. Hopefully some one is there to hand em too. Then reverse at the end of the day. When your legs are jello from the hard ride. It would be best fab some kind of rack at the back. So you drop your tailgate and everything is there. I ended up getting a hitch carrier. And threw my gear and cooler in the back. My kids race BMX. So I made a PVC rack that goes in our enclosed trailer. And fits in the bed of my LB. It's nice I can reach all the bike from the side. No more climbing in. Do you have a SB? If you have a LB. You could put one in the front. And one in the back. Roll em in and shut the gate. Don't know if your bars would clear though. This is what sux about hard tops. It's love and hate

F it buy a swing away

Nice Ghia Ben sounds like sweet FJ80 also. Just sold my 94. I got elec and tranny manual if you want em.
