I went to Discount Tire and got a quote on a set of 17x8 "0" offset wheels for my 2014 TRD Sport 4x4. The saleman told me that because the wheels are 1/2" wider than my OEM's and 0 offset compared to +30 that the wheels/tires would stick outboard too far, he indicated more than 2" compared to the stock wheels.Maybe I should try and stay with a +12 or so?

Does anyone have a photo of "0" offset's on their Tacoma that they can post?

I'm looking for a wider stance, but don't want it to be too severe. Will be running the OEM 265/65r/17 tires on the new wheels. I currently have 265/70r17 snow tires on the OEM alloy wheels with no clearance problems.

0 offset isn't bad at all. I too have 0 offset on 8" wheels. Mine are 16". Tread is even with the flares, just the sidewalks stick out.

'0' offset is quite common with most aftermarket wheels and preferred by most if going bigger to avoid rubbing UCAs or wanting a more aggressive stance. '0' offset is a backspacing of 4.5". Most with stock wheels run1.25" spidertrax wheel spacers to achieve the results stated.

0 offset isn't going to stick too out much. Mine are 17x9, -12 offset. With a 0 offset on an 8 inch wheel they'll stick out a little less than mine.

I am wheel shopping now and to me, that is the perfect stance.

Just curious bodacious, what wheel were u looking at?

I am eyeing up Level 8 trackers, they are 17x8.5 with -6 offset. Anyone know if that means it would stick out more or less than the trucks posted?

Wheels specs you listed will stick out pretty much exactly like the trucks posted. All the wheels posted are running approx 4.5" of BS but tire size/width will also contribute to it visibly.

I looking at the AR 893 wheels 17x8 with 0 offset. American Racing website shows them as a questionable fit. Also show a 25 offset which I would think is a +25???? But the website shows them as not recommended on a non-lifted truck. I would have thought that they would sit closer to OEM than the 0 offset do. Confused again. They don't show any available in between 0 and (25)

Just to help clarify a little. The less offset, the further the wheel will be from the frame (wider stance). So 0 offset through the negative numbers (example: -10,-15) will be wider. So -6 would stick out 6 mm more than a 0 offset wheel. A 0 offset wheel will stick out 32mm more than the factory sport wheel because they have +32 mm offset.

Thanks Moondeath, but then why would the 25 offsets not be recommended? Is it because the new wheels are 1/2" wider 7" vs 6.5 oem", causing inboard type issues?
Not trying to argue the facts just confused on that point.

The "0" offset seems to be my only choice, just hope the stock 265/65r/17" tires don't hit the fender flares. (non-lifted)

I don't know why they don't recommend it. I'd have to look at what they're talking about. Maybe they've had some fitting issue with the caliper with that wheel or something, just speculating. Maybe they're just being cautious.

The oem wheels are actually 7" wide on the offroad and 7.5" wide on the sport. So the same or wider than the ones you're speaking of.

As for that tire, it seems that is the same diameter tire as the oem offroad tire. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't fit.

Edit: I was just looking at your original post and you mentioned 17x8. Is that what you meant by 1/2" bigger? If so, then yes, that's probably the reason they don't recommend.

Yea, my typing error. OEM wheels are 17 x 7.5 with +32 offset as you noted.
    The AR 893 mainlines are 17 x 8. with either -12, 0, or 25 offsets available.

Thanks you certainly are making this much clearer for me to understand.

I'm old school, the wheel choices I had in the past were: Keystone Klassics, Cragger SS, or ET slotted. (guess that dates me back to Medieval Times)

It definitely can get confusing and intimidating when you're about to spend money and you want to make sure everything fits. I went through this when I bought mine.

To give you an idea of how tight it is on the factory front end, stick your hand between the tire and the arm just below the upper ball joint. Only about a 1/2" at some spots.

I just got my Tacoma done. 3" leveling kit on some lt265/70r-17 tires with 17x9 mb 352 wheels I believe 1" offset. It only rubs sometimes when I pull out of my driveway with the wheel cranked all the way. I havent looked what it rubs on yet. The shop said it might rub on the front mud flaps I love the lift and look yte7ynys_4f17f1dce841851662bf7bd45d695d4d2d962307.jpgtasubype_21b1851a70ab912f733bb43248c6ea8ca8989fa3.jpg

But does you traction control beep go off??? mine does I just picked it up on Friday so i'm calling the truck shop tomorrow to see if this is common. Love the lift tho.

All this talk of stock wheels has me wondering what the offset of the 16" Baja/Pro fake bead-lock wheels are. Anyone know?
