    Judy,

as I pmed you there is no charge to use the credit card. Toyota allows you to finance the warranty for up to 18 mths (not related to the Toyota credit card). If that option is chosen it raises my cost by 135.

if you elect to use the credit card you have 0% for 6 mths and no additional charge.

Basically there are 3 ways to think of paying for it

    1) cash (total amount with card, check, whatever)
    2) Toyota rewards Visa new applicant, 0% for 6 mths
    3) Finance through Toyota for up to 18 mths but costs additional $135

    Sounds rather ominous...

    j/k...

I can't believe the amount of insulting pressure my dealer put on me to purchase this warranty at twice the price you're offering.

Glad I didn't do it, but I just might have to now...

I had a 7/100 Platimum I bought for my '07 Camry XLE from Troy.
About 8 months later I hit a deer causing $8K in damage, fixed the car and dumped it.
I called Toyota and cancelled the warranty and got back $735 or so in a couple of weeks.

yes I got your pm earlier thanks for clarifying your original paragraph.

The way it read before it sounded like you couldn't get 0% at all because Toyota charges you. Folks don't know the difference between TFS or TFSB & that option wasn't in there as in the Rewards 0% for six months. I guess if people want to pay that $135 fee to spend a thousand so be it.

Again thanks for clearing it up. I'll edit my above response accordingly.

if you paid a reasonable price you will get most of it back. if you paid a hefty price then you'll loose some money, unless it's within the first month, then you get a full refund.

I understand all of the praise for troy as he's been doing this longer, but I never see him on here working these threads. I'm a fellow Toyota fan and owner (06 Tundra), and I'll give any inside dealer information I can. I'll do the same pricing for the same product and help in any other way possible.

Here's an example of a report I can provide.

Uhh I wouldn't bother cancelling your current warrantee.

The extended warrantee is based on the original date you bought the truck NEW. It does not account for when you bought the warrantee.

Even if you bought the warrantee last year.....the refund is gonna be based on ownership of the vehicle since the first day you bought it.

I highly doubt you'd get enough back to even purchase a 'new' warrantee at a lesser price.

So, if I were to buy a 7 year warranty, it's actually only a 4 year warranty, as the first 3 years come with the purchase of the truck, is that correct?

exactly correct. it will last the full 7 years assuming you don't hit the miles first (75k or 100k depending on the warranty you choose)

handytoyota, can you sell a warranty to me here in NY?

(Reason I ask is on another forum a member said the popular warranty supplier their couldn't sell it to him because he was in NY)

That attractive finance lady tried to lead me into a $3000 price on the 7/100, conversation was decent until x/warranty came up. She tried the scare tactics "ok then initial here that you refuse" , I somewhat regrettably told her to shove that 3k deal up an orifice. Glad I did! So you have all been warned , that bench seat in the reg cab could cost big money if it breaks lol.

With only 18 months on my truck , the 7/75 is looking good now.

The funny part in all this is deep down in their heart, every Tom Dick and Harry expects anything well-built to last at least 10 years/100k miles with regular maintenance and lack of abnormal levels of abuse. Toyota is supposed to be on an extremely short list of some of the best built products in the world. The fact that some dealerships representing Toyota are trying to force people to pay $3000 just so they are covered if their "highly acclaimed" product fails before it should (Not to mention the inconvienence involved).... is truly a sad state of affairs

Do you know if there is a plan that I can purchase that is good in Europe. Just curious. My baby goes on the boat next week for a 5yr stay in Germany and then back to the states after that.

    HandyToyota, you still on here?

What are/is Toyota at/doing to honor the inner fender bulges on the FJ Cruisers?

Just curious. Mine is a 2008 with 20000 miles and a slight bulge on the passenger side. Been taking it in to Toyota since about 7k miles and when I did the dealer was unaware of the issue and I walked out to one on the lot that was a "Certified Used" that actually had bulges and cracks at only 13k miles (on the lot as a certified used vehicle).

I have a ARB Bullbar and Warn M8000 with no suspension mods and it has been very mildly wheeled.

So as I'm under the 36K warranty and it is a known problem with the FJ Cruiser what should I expect as a reasonable repair under warranty?

    Please respond, thanks!

HMM, no tacos are sold out of N. America I'm pretty sure. You might want to load some oil filters and a few other maintainance items and utilize the on base garage. Place a toyota online parts in your favorites(if you dont already). Alternate idea is a german toyota dealer to do maintainace for the record. Check with toyota still, your insurance and your shipmates, (what do you call em in the army?)

PS Send photos of your truck next to Panzers, M1s, and passing Germans on the Audobahn (spelled right?) while eating Tacos:D

I have to say X 2 on this. I bought the truck because the 2.7 is supposed to be bullet proof and I'm looking to run it 200000 . If it's going to need other then normal maintenance under 100000 I might as well have bought a Dodge, they were giving them away at the time I bought Taco.

I was going to add an update to this thread but I forgot all about it. Two weeks ago I canceled the Toyota Platinum warranty I had for a prorated refund. I ended up getting $1105 back after the prorate. The shitty part about it is where I ate $300 dollars on the prorate. :puke:

To bad the sales manager never mentioned being able to opt in for the extended warranty AFTER purchase and all the way up to the end of the factory warranty...

Sure can. I have a whole price sheet but can't attach it here for reason. I can email it to you though.

Nothing in Europe that I know of, sorry.

First I've heard of it, I'll ask around a little.
