Driving to work in an unexpected snowstorm, approaching T intersection, car in front of me at stop sign. We're both turning left. He makes his turn, I check to make sure no traffic is coming from either way, and begin my turn. Car ahead starts to spin and hits the guardrail. I hit my brakes and the ice/abs carry me right in to his rear bumper. Slow speed and no injuries, but my truck is hurt:frusty:. The Police were so busy with more serious accidents, they weren't responding to any without injuries, like mine. Swapped info and on our way we went.

Was a bit of a nasty storm up in Cheyenne this morning. Woman that sits across from me at work managed to hit somebody with her F150.

It was the worst roads I've had to drive on this winter. I got to the interstate and watched two cars lose control for no apparent reason, with another one at the bottom of a hill off the entrance ramp. It was just ice with a nice layer of snow on top. Roads were melted and mostly dry by 5 this afternoon.

You say "he" made a decade; which is 10 years without an accident... you have a 2011, and it's only 2014. So are you talking in the third person? Also glad you were unscathed.

I won't be dropping that kind of dough until I have this thing paid off, although it might be a good time for a headlight retrofit since one has to be changed anyway....

I made it over 10 years, the title was me mocking those stupid attention grabbing ad's you see everywhere online these days. Especially on the Weather Channel website.

Agree visibility was terrible, another benefit to living on base is avoiding much of the traffic.

    OP, sorry about your misfortune.

So does anyone in the area have any recommendations for body shops to get some estimates? Or ones to avoid for that matter?

I would pull the cover off and see if you can fix it yourself. It's just bent plastic. If you are going to have it done professionally, then I agree with others about getting a plate bumper since it will more than likely cost the same.

From looking at what people have said on the forum about front end repair costs last night, a plate bumper might wind up being more cost effective. I meet with my adjuster later this week and can't get any estimates from body shops until next week, they're all very busy from the weather. I'll know more next week.

I actually have a 2010 super white bumper down in Fort Collins... Not sure I'm 100% willing to part with it, but if you're interested, let me know.

    Quick update

Got my estimates today, anywhere between $1300 and $1400 to replace the bumper, headlight and the bumper trim piece. It looks like my fender might be pushed in a bit too, as the headlight sticks out over the metal and the tip of the fender flare is not flush like the other side. All of the shops are booked until May too, booooo.

I appreciate the offer, and if it weren't for the potential fender damage, I would have taken you up on that and just replaced it myself. Either the fender is damaged or something else is out of line and I have zero skills in body repair. I'll let the professionals deal with this one. Thanks though!
