Hey there everyone, my 05 tacoma coolant overflow keeps filling up, from what i have read on here looks like i have a blown head gasket. I have 125k on the truck, trd supercharger on it for only 5-6k, any advise from anyone that has had this problem would be appreciated, what kinda gaskets and studs to get, anyone know a good toyota mechanic near the ventura ca to los angeles areas? Bummed out, truck seems to run great still oil is still clean.

Does it fill up continuously? or does it fill up while its running then go back down as the engine cools?

Yes blown head gaskets are a common issue with a super charger.

Does the radiator have oil in the coolant?

Considering you have an engine with ~ 120K miles on it at the time the SC was installed I am shocked they didn't change the head gaskets or at least advise you to have them replaced when the SC was installed.

if it returns back to the normal level, you should be good, i mean if you're really concerned about your head gasket you could have a shop take a look at it. But the overflow is supposed to slowly fill up as the coolant gets hot and expands, then return to normal after the engine cools.

Sounds like you need to replace the head gaskets. Good luck.

Get the gaskets done quick. As I understand it water is now able to get into the cylinder and it will quickly rust and may lead to seizing.

took it to toyota dealership today, they ran a block test, leak down test, put it on the scope, they told me that i had too much coolant in the system, i left the dealership got on the highway and floored it pulled over to find that the coolant overflow reservoir had 2 inches more coolant in it...looks like i am gonna have to keep my foot out of it for a while til i can get home and find someone to fix it..thats gonna be tough, might have to tape a block of wood to the underside of the gas pedal..
