I've been looking for a double cab TRD 4x4 long bed for a little while with not much luck. The ones I find the dealers will not budge much on the price. I found a 2013 4x4 dbl cab long bed with jbl, leather, navigation, heated seats, etc with 16k miles for $34k drive out. Does this sound too steep? I'm trying to find a truck with the options I listed for $33k drive out.

That sounds like it's maybe a limited edition. My 2013 TRD sport was about $31,000 brand new.

A '13 for that price? Yes, too high.

    Where are you located?

I'm in southeast Texas. All the dealers I'm talking to are saying $33k +tt&l for a new 4x4 TRD dclb sport. None of them have one in stock so I think that hurts my negotiations.

That's not a crazy price. Because of how Toyota splits up the US, we typically see higher prices than other parts of the country.

You could probably get $32k, for a '14, and that would be a good deal.

Could you drive to Houston? I don't know any dealers in that area (I bought mine in College Station), but they're bound to have a selection.

... unless, as you posted in the OP, you're looking for a '13... then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm up in Massachusetts and there aren't a lot of DCLB tacomas up here either but I got mine in Jan with the following options for 31,200. Tax title, registration were extra (still don't get the fascination with people quoting OTD prices)

I got a v6 4x4 sport with towing, Entune plus, floor mats, and wheel locks.

I probably could have pushed for a better deal but I felt it was a fair price.

The problem buying a used Tacoma vs a new one is they just hold their value o a fault. After you factor in financing, the warranty differences between new and used, and the resale hit for a year older car, it can become hard to justify used with some of the prices dealers are asking.

Good luck on your search, I hope you find the right one for you

Most Tacoma's in Texas are doubles but the long beds are extremely rare. I looked at every Tacoma in the state last year and do not recall seeing a long bed. I was scouring the inventories looking for a Baja without tubes and Gulf States add ons. I was in no hurry and made that real clear to dealers I worked with. Find one to work with you on price and order. I had one dealer willing to order at 10% off MSRP.

    Basically, yes.

Trucks are very popular, so they charge more.

I can drive to Houston. That's not a problem. I don't care if it's a 2013 or 14. I don't mind buying used for a good deal. I'm not even against getting a $200 flight to Dallas and driving the thing back. I called one dealer in Dallas and they had the same price as what I'm seeing around here. $35 drive out.

I would buy new buddy, the price difference is very small from gently used to new.

Go ahead and order one. The order time frame ends in April so have to make a decision soon. 10% off retail would be a real good price.

Let me give you my .02 as I am in the same boat as you. Everyone that has a 12 or 13 that's a sport 4x4 or limited dcsb or dclb wants around 31-33k. That being said after taxes here in florida puts me at 32860-34980 after taxes and all. I have literally spoken to 6 dealerships all over the place with the vehicle I want brand new and I can get invoice or a few hundred off invoice which comes out to around 34k out the door. Just buy new and save yourself the time and effort as I am seeing a trend being the 12s and 13s you want save any money on buying used as the trucks hold their value very well and everyone wants one.

's why I bought a new one. The used market was stupid expensive for any 4x4 truck out here in CO.

I bought my brand new TRD OffRoad 4x4 V6 double cab with all weather flooring and a few Toyota accessories, but without JBL, leather, and navigation for 31k (33k out the door).

I would say drop the limited package and just buy a brand new TRD Sport long bed 4x4 for the same price.

I bought a new 2014 4x4 TRD Off-Road with Entune Premium, navigation, tow package, mats and sill protectors, and predator steps for $32,600. In Austin. Where are you in Texas?

Rhanson, head to Houston. Just got my Taco from there as the dealers in my city were pissing on me without the courtesy of calling it rain. Check out the websites of all the dealers in the Houston area for the specific vehicle you want and see if they have it in stock. Compare the prices of the vehicles vs what they include (TRD OR or Sport, security system, blah blah blah). Call up the internet dept of each dealership and give them the stock #, have them give you their best deal drive out price. DO NOT go to Mike Calvert - time wasters who gave me a higher price when it came time for paperwork. Do contact their internet dept anyways. Don McGill was another waste of time who didn't bother to counter offer.

Joe Myers offered me a serious, competitive quote on the phone. The internet guy there is pretty stand up and didn't waste my time. He offered up a fair price but I was already at another dealership. Fred Haas Toyota Country matched the offer from Joe Myers on a vehicle that would arrive the next week exactly as I wanted it.

If I recall correctly, Fred Haas offered $33k drive out on a 4x4 TRD OR - Entune Plus/Tow/Tube steps. Pretty sure they can throw in a few other accessories as well. Make sure you ask. Don't settle for whoever they throw at you first - we asked for an experienced salesman at the front desk because we didn't have time to waste and got saddled with a newbie for a half hour. Then Dave J came in and treated us well. Things went quickly after that. I'd suggest asking for him. One thing I didn't think to negotiate for - the $150 documentary fee. It sorta stings I paid for it. I suggest you be smarter than I was and get that taken off. Let me know if you have any other Qs... I am so glad I'm done with the buying portion. Now on to the fun mods. :)

Edit: As another Texan, take the drive out prices in the What Did You Pay for Your 2014 thread with a grain of salt. Tacos are flying off the lot down here plus I'm sure the fees/taxes are different down here too. $33k out the door was pretty much the lowest we found. Might be possible to go slightly lower to $32k but didn't happen for us.
