Not much on the 07 yet. 18 is gone, but was a greata truck. TRD Pro grill, Gator FX3, Homelink mirror, Black out badges & exhaust tip, Remote start. Future TRD exhaust, skid plate.
    Ok, help me.
After a horrible experience last Thursday with my dealer, I decided to change my brake fluid on Friday using my Motive Power Bleeder.
That went pretty smoothly, but as I was crawling around under my truck, it just didn't look right under the engine. I think I am missing a skid plate that protects the under parts of the engine. Does it look like one is missing in these photos? I can't say for sure, but I don't remember the bottom of the engine being so exposed.

    Does this look right?
The dealer did an oil change (unathorized) but they shouldn't remove a plate to do that.

looks right, you should only have the 1 factory plate in the front for stock.

    Great!
Thanks, I just don't trust my dealer anymore.

Uhh, I beg to differ. Even the non trd trucks carry a protection plate to cover the underside of the motor. It's not a skid plate per se, but nonetheless its still a plate and visible underneath the motor. I don't see it in those photos.

I believe you are correct. My off road had the two "skids" as pictured above, but a friend with a sport only had the front skid. I ended up giving him the smaller one when I removed it. They are both 2010 models so things may be different for other model years, not sure.

I can confirm that I have an 08 prerunner SR5 and even it has both of the black skids in the pic above and you do have to remove the back one (smaller one in pic above) for easy access to the oil drain plug. Go back to the dealer and demand they up one because they left it off after they changed the oil. Who cares if it was even really there to begin with or what year model trucks are different.....the dumbasses don't know they left it off so they won't know whether it had one to begin either. All they will know is that it is not there when you show them and that they changed your oil. 1 + 1 = they left it off. Make them put one back. All 6 lug trucks should have 2. If they don't then either the fuctory forget it or dealership oil change stooges left it off at some point. Haphazard non-ISO assembly quality control practices are outside the owners responsibility and should cost the company.

my 07 prerunner base model did not have both skids. Only the front one.

My '10 trd offroad had both.

Maybe the bolts rattled loose and it fell off.

I suppose that's possible it fell off, but I sure think I would have heard the noise when it did.

Not if you were :headbang: when it did :) Kidding aside, I hope you get it figured out or at least get a new skid, maybe time for an aftermarket one that actually protects something.

OK, I pulled my 2007 brochure and the TRD Off road lists an engine skid plate and fuel tank protector, but that is not listed for the TRD Sport.
So I don't think I ever had one, just wasn't sure since dealer screwed everything else up.
    Thanks all,
    M.

Look at the threads where it bolts up and see if they are shiny. If they are, you had one. And the one we are talking about is not a fuel tank skid.

Like stated above, the Sport models only have the front plate, which if you decide to order one, is called an "engine undercover".part#51405A..They usually cost about $160 so for that price, I would upgrade to a true skid plate.
