Heated seats other than Limited?

I'm shopping to replace my Trailblazer and the Tachoma is at the top of a very short list. I live in Tenn now, but only recently move from Ill, where heated seats are sooooo nice to have. I see that the Tachoma has them, but just in the Limited.

I took my wife's Prius to the local dealer to get the oil changed, and took the time to talk to one of the sales guys while I was there. He told me they can put heated seats on any model. I was surprised and meant to ask about it, but had so many other questions, I forgot.

I assume this means they take the existing seats apart and add heating elements and NOT that they take the seats out and put whole new ones in.

Has anybody done this? Had the dealer add heated seats? Are you happy with the results?

Hmmm.... I'm not aware of a 'heated seat' option on any Tacoma's other than the limited. But they are easy to install. Your dealer can do it or you can go to an auto sound/alarm shop to have it done. By the way, it's 'Tacoma' not 'Tachoma', just FYI...

My plan is to put seat heaters in or get the seats reupholstered and have the heaters put in at the same time.

Yes, had dealer put heaters in my seats on purchase. Cost $500 for both, but I think it was a mistake on the qoute, as my son and daughter in law bought a truck from the same dealer a month later and were quoted $1000... they have worked well so far, I have owned the truck since January 2013 (bought new). Switches are in the little blanks in the lower center console. I say go for it...

There is a local auto sound shop in Columbus, OH that is running a special for seat heater installation for $149.00/seat....

Just spend the money on a set of wet okole seat covers with the heated seat option. Probably way cheaper than getting them installed under the existing upholstery. Also - you get the awesome seat covers.

I just got my new Tacoma this past week, and am considering those covers (I missed the group purchase, I think.. :-( ). How are folks wiring them in for +12V?

I had the dealer add them to my 2014. I think I paid $500 installed. I didn't want to do it myself. I think the elements themselves are around $200. They work and I didn't want to step up to the Limited to get them.

$500? $1000? For installing seat heaters? I think I'm in the wrong line of work.

$89 per seat for the regular Warm Seats (OEM for many car companies). Comes with a back pad and a butt pad, wiring harness, relay, switch with a high/off/low setting:

    http://www.jegs.com/i/Warmseats/936/WSH/10002/-1

The only tools you'll need that you likely don't have are hog ring pliers and hog rings, which you can get through Jegs for $14:
    http://www.jegs.com/i/Dorman+Products/326/74366/10002/-1

Then, plan on a nice quiet evening to get the pads into the first seat, quite a bit less for the second seat. Wiring took the longest and that was mostly trying to figure out a good spot to put the switches and route the wires. Here's a writeup I did on another forum when I put them into my truck (yes, it's in 1st gen, but I can't imagine seat technology has changed that much)
I'll soon have a 2nd gen and this will be one of the first mods I do. My wife absolutely loves it. She's been nagging me to put them into her Corolla as well. You'll need literally two evenings to get the pads installed in the seats then an afternoon to run the wires.
