On scale of 1-10, how would you describe the power of your 4.0 v6?

I want a 2014 trd sport with a 3 inch and lift and 33's. and I don't care about having a super fast truck but I don't want one that is slow either. so how would you rate the power of your truck.

also would I need to re gear with those size tires?

I got a 3" lift on mine with 275/65/R18's that are very close to 33" and it still has plenty of power. I even pull a 26.5' travel trailer in the summer and it does well.

    Mine personally?

I'd say its got the power to get out of its own way when the need arises.

Honestly, I wouldn't give it any higher than a 6. It is fine for normal driving, but towing or driving in the mountains and it is constantly hunting for gears or struggling to maintain speed. It's biggest issue is lack of low end torque, IMO. It does a lot better at higher RPMs.

10 the 4.0 has plenty of power plus I have a 6 speed so I think it's way more fun to drive than the auto plus turn off all the trac control and it is a blast of dirt roads

    In relation to what?
    Compared to my '99 3.4 it's a 10.
    Compared to my cousin's 6.7L Cummins it's maybe a 4.

    6. Might be an 8 if they had upgraded the tacoma v6 when they upgraded the 4runner's.

Edit: compared to other naturally aspirated gasoline v6's.

    This. Context is needed.

Based on what I've driven in my life it's a 5. Not amazing, but not horrible. Granted I have the 6spd so it's easier to rev it out if I need power.

Interesting. I agree with the towing but this is not a truck really designed to tow much at altitude. As far as driving through the mountains if you are struggling i would get your truck looked at. I have plate bumper, winch, sliders, and oversize tires and I have no problem doing 70 all the way up to eisenhower pass. No problems accelerating if i get stuck behind someone. Turn about 2700 to 2800 till I get over 10000 feet, then I would have to kick it up a little bit to maintain that speed.

I'd say a 4. When I had my 05' I would have thought a 6. However since the 05', I've had the 5.7 in the Tundra, and my wifes current car has more hp and torque than the v6 in the Tacoma

Compared to my parents fusion I'd say a 9, compared to my dads 7.3 about a 1, and compared to my moms mustang about a 1...
