OK, my goal is 3" up front. My dilemma is between the 885 and 886. I know the 886 is a heavier coil and can take more weight up front. So why not just get the 886 right off the bat just in case I decide to add a bumper?

Why do people get the 885 with the top plate spacer for 3"?

Am I missing something? My mindset is just get the 886 and be done.

OME complete kit w/ 885s on Nitrocharger Sports, 1/4" spacers, Dakars w/ Nitrocharger Sports, LR UCAs, 265/70-17, Duratracs, G4 Elite tonneau, Weathertech Window Deflectors, Weathertech digital floor liners, factory JBL/Entune, rear differential breather relocate.
Because if you don't add weight, they'll be quite a bit stiffer than the 885s. 885s are stiff enough for most people.

I personally loved 886s without weight, but it's the owner's decision in the end.

885s for sure. You and you're CV boots will be MISERABLE with 886 and no extra weight. I put on a full OME kit with 886s and ARB with no winch. It sucked. Much better after winch install.

yep 887s are the same load range as 885s but 5mm longer. 886 are stiffer and better with added weight like a plate bumper, wench and skids just preference really. All up to the owner of the vehicle and how they like their ride to feel

Dag. I wish I had done this. I didn't realize 887s existed till OZ said something....but I had to buy a winch since I was so oversprung.:D

Mr. OP, get your springs in yet? I'm betting you go up 3 inches from where you are now with no spacers if you have never replaced the springs. My stockers sagged out pretty fast. If you use those spacers watch your CV boots, especially the inner ones, for the fins rubbing.

    Good luck!
