I have a leak in the output seal of transmission. Was replaced but has only gotten worse. I have a 3 inch lift with rear aal. Is there anything else I can do? I thought I saw a thread somewhere that mentioned using silicone but can't find it now.

    Thanks in advance,
    Cluck024

Next time you pull the driveshaft for another seal, make sure that there isn't a small groove in the shaft. Maybe the 4x4 world has a more substantial seal available.

If there is a groove, what would the fix be? Will definitely try the gasket sealer. Will be sometime next week probably before I can get at it again. I will report back with findings.

    Thanks,

Before tapping the new metal clad seal into place , verify there is no seal groove . There are 2 fixes that I know of .
1 - when tapping in the new seal with brown permatex, do not tap all the way in . This will change the area the seal rides on eliminating the new seal from operating in the groove . Not the best fix but works .Pack the garter spring with grease before you tap it into place .

2 - measure the shaft where the seal groove is located and order a speedy sleeve from a machine shop to cover the effected area . They make speedy sleeves for this problem . As mentioned above ,make sure the bushing is in good condition and replace it if necessary

We'll, I wiped the drop of ATF off last night and this morning went to check it, not a drop! Drove about 8-10 miles and checked again, still nothing. I have it parked on an incline with nose up now. Will check again but hoping it may have stopped. I did take the shaft off a second time before posting here and tapped on the seal a little. Maybe it wasn't fully seated? Crossing my fingers for now.
