I have a 2013 DCSB TRD Sport. I'm wanting to add lights to the front and really like the look of the LED light bars. I really like the way the bar looks in the hood scoop but I know that I can't go that route since they changed the scoops in 2012. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to place a light bar on the front of my truck? How to mount it so I dont have to worry with it getting stolen? Can someone also reccomend a good light bar? I have looked at Rigid Industries but their prices are HIGH as taxes. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Please be patient with me, I'm new to the Tacoma world and dont know the proper terms and etiquette. Lol

most popular mounting options are on the front bumper or along the roof line. Check out KC hilites, they are a new vendor on our website and their prices are less than Ridgids.

Damn it Chris, you had to come with a serious answer before I could have some fun....lmao.

To the OP, there are many different options for the brand. Aurora builds a KILLER light bar and their prices are lower than Rigid. I would check here on TW as there is a group buy going on right now. Really good prices.

As for location on the truck to put it, that depends on several factors. Do you plan to get flood, or spot pattern? Combination? Do you want to light things up close up, or get maximum throw? The higher the bar is located, the better chance you have to get a better throw. So first you need to decide what lighting you desire.

Thanks for your input so far guys. I will be wanting a combo flood/spot light. I was thinking about mounting it in the lower valance. Do you know if the double row LED bars will fit there? What about mounting brackets for that location?

There are a couple of places here on TW that make special mounting bars for locating it behind the grille, or on the roof. Just peek through the vendor section and you will find them. Lots of good builders.

Can you use these behind the grille brackets with the factory grille?

I'm really not sure. You would have to ask the individual vendors that make them.

    Too many to list now.
There's a reason Rigids are more expensive OP i know I sell them and its gard to sound unbiased but I've had the pleasure of walking their manufacturing line, and I've also got a pile of old lightbars that people have thrown away after coming in and getting a Rigid once they've compared them. We usually have to step our bars down one or two aizes to actually compare side by side. So yes, they are expensive, but they are the best. Made in america with a lifetime warranty is nothing to frown about either.

I completely agree. Made in America with a lifetime warranty is great. I just can't swing that amount of change for a light bar. I'm sure they are worth it. It's just not in my budget.

Don't misunderstand me here, as I do love the made in America concept. However the Aurora light bars that I buy are very good quality, with heavy duty construction, using the same CREE LEDs (which are made in USA) and their testing is unbelievable. I have seen it and they build a VERY tough bar! Theirs are also a lifetime warranty. Everyone has their opinion, as I always state. My opinion is that the Aurora bars are just as good as the Rigid, at a significantly lower price. Again, this is my opinion.

I feel for you. I did a TON of searching around when I was looking for suppliers for my LED bars. I do like the Made in America for sure. Just would be nice if the price was better.

A double row won't fit without modification of the valance. My single row uses 2nd gen Cree bulbs and is 3" tall and contacts top and bottom with the valance. Check out Rigid Industries lower valance mounts. I don't think there's another company that makes the mounts.

Any light bar will work, just make sure it utilizes Cree bulbs and is ip67 rated. My spot beam in the lower valance throws just as far as a light bar mounted on the roof.

    Enjoy the brightness

Get in on one of the light bar group buys. I got my stuff pretty cheap. 8800 lumens.

I just ordered a very reasonable 14400 lumen 32" led bar from rampage (on tw) and will be installing when I get beck in town. I too was planning on the lower valence and I'm going to probably start with the rigid mounts even though they are made for a 30" single row led bar. If you're still interested I can let you know how it goes. All in should be under $375-$400 depending on the complexity of the install.
