Drive shaft vibration finally got the better of my truck. I replaced all three U-joints back in mid December in attempt to fix the problem. Yesterday I was driving home from work doing 75 mph and the rear U-joint exploded. on my way over to the right had shoulder of the road I then watched my drive line roll out from under my truck. It broke the second u-joint and disconnected completely. It rolled off to the side of the road, through a fence and ended up at the bottom of a canal.

I looked under the truck to asses the damage, broke all three 3 joints, splines and destroyed my carrier bearing I just replaced as well. Also on its way out the drive line decided it wanted to dent my exhaust.

I ended up strapping up what was left of my drive line, put the truck in 4wd and limped it home on back roads. Sure glad I bought one with 4wd!

Looks like my tax return is going to be spent on a Tom Woods Drive line. I've ordered a 1 piece Double Cardon as I've read that this will solve the vibration issues as well. I live about 25 minutes from TW's shop and will be picking it up tomorrow to install Wednesday to leave Thursday after work on a 800+ mile camping/wheeling trip to Logandale NV.

I'm 4X4. Every time I change my oil I check them and greased as necessary, as you can tell by my pictures the old ones spayed grease all over the place.

That vibration must have been really bad, did you consider having the driveshaft checked for straightness and balance? I keep hearing stories of vibration, I hope mine never gets it.

Sounds like the installation of the new u joints was probably bad and messed up and fatigued the joints themselves.
