People with UltraGauge: Is it a useful tool that you're happy you bought or cool for bit and then stored away in the glove box never to be used again? I was just thinking of buying one.

I love mine and I use it more than I use the dash gauges. The UG gives you real time data and it's very useful info that I like to keep an eye one while driving. Also useful to know the correct speed after larger tires without having to replace the speedo gear things. I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Can't speak to ultraguage, but I use my scanguage every drive.

If I had to do it again, I'd probably buy ultraguage.

I got an UltraGauge for Christmas and mounted it to my windshield. I stare at it more than I should lol. I've got mine set up to tell Instant MPG, Average MPG, RPM's, Engine temp, Trip mileage, and MPH. I love it. The best part is that you can diagnose check engine light codes, as well as turn off the check engine light.

The average MPG really makes me drive better, as I'm always trying to get it up. When I started out, it was around 14.5 and now I'm up to 18!

    Do dents and scratches count?
Been doing the opposite with mine so far! But I don't commute for work. Its just an occasional driver so I am not too concerned with mileage.

I bought mine on a group buy on a whim last year. Don't know what I did without it. Makes me drive better to get better mpg. Helped a lot after I went with larger tires after the recalibration. I recommend getting one or other type ie scanguage.

I use it for instant MPG and average MPG. As already mentioned, it helps to keep your foot lighter.

I have the Scangauge 2, ultragauge MX, and torque app.

When we get the codes figured out for the ultragauge trans temps, I will NOT use the Scangauge.....

The benefit of the Scangauge for me is ONLY that it reads trans temp.

The ultragauge MX shows up to 8 gauges per page, and 7 pages... So up to 56 gauges are possible depending on setup and our vehicles abilities. Pages can be set to auto advance, or stay on 1 page until the user presses a button to advance the page. The readout on the ultragauge is much easier on the eyes IMHO.

Scangauge can show 4 gauges at a time.... Period, no multiple pages or anything.

The Scangauge does however have the xgauge feature allowing u to set up ur own gauges if u know the proper "codes".

The ultragauge MX allows the same feature, but I don't know of any codes for our trucks yet, and I tried to see if the Scangauge protocols would transfer to the ultragauge. Didn't work for me, but I may have missed something.

As for the torque app....... I'm still new to it.

Currently waiting to custom install the Scangauge, and then use it AND the ultragauge MX with a right angle OBD2 splitter. The ultragauge will be used primarily, and the scangauge pulling duty on the transmission temp.

Neither are accurate IMHO on their HPor tq estimates tho, and iI'm not surprised.... So I wouldn't have ur heart set on that part...... There's no way I have the 400 HP the Scangauge reads out...... Nor the torque app.

Will it read OUTSIDE ambient air temp? I ask because my new 14' Sport doesn't seem to have an outside temp gauge except for the Entune Weather Channel local temp info. That's not sufficient for my wants. Maybe I'm just missing it? I haven't had a chance to go through the manual or play with all the buttons. :)

It can only read what your ECU knows about.
The ECU has no outside ambient air temp input, so no, you get intake air temp.

Buy a Donnley or Gentex self-dimming rear view mirror with compass and temp for under $200 on eBay and install it yourself.

Love how Toyota took away such features from the new lineup.

Yeah, when I drive around town, my average MPG is around 15. When I commute to school on the interstate, it's about 23-24. That small town driving brings the average down.

When you crank your truck up, it will tell you the engine temp when it's cold, so, in a sense, it does tell you outside engine temp.
