I have search around and looked everywhere for info on t case motor replacement. I have access to alldata and searched the web. Pulling the bolts off the motor. It stays hooked on the shaft. Do you pull the side plate off the motor to remove the worm gear? Does it have to be in any certain position 2wd 4 hi etc?. My motor is good. I am replace the transfer case itself. My used case seems to be in 4wd and doesnt seem to change. I am used to keyway type motors like on domestic trucks. Any info before i tear into it would be apreciated. Thanks

Need more info to help you..Everything I have read on rebuilding transfers says it's cheaper to buy a rebuilt than it is to do yourself. Requires special tools! Without 4wd shift selector put in 4 hi. With shift selector place in 4 hi and shift selector in off. Are you pulling trans and transfer? Otherwise why pull transmission from engine.

Sorry i have an 11 4.0 auto. It has a the electronic switch on the dash. I am not rebuilding the case. I am replacing the case with a used unit without a motor. So do i need to be in 4 hi to pull the motor?

I only have slight knowledge on this, that is 2nd gen. question. I would think it hasn't changed. 4 hi,selector off. Might try 2nd gen. thread to be safe.
