I'm having trouble deciding which Tacoma to get. There's a really nice 2010 TRD Sport model with 81000 km on it for ~$32000 that I'm eyeing up, but I could also get a brand new 2014 TRD Sport for ~$39000, which also comes with 3 year basic coverage, while the 2010 model does not. I think I can get a better finance rate with a new 2014 model also.
I'd like to hear some of your opinions though, this is my first vehicle purchase and I don't want to make a huge mistake.
    Thanks

id go with new. you dont know what is wrong with the used one. BUT if you plan on browsing these forums alot and catch the mod bug, i would pick up a sr5 and just put that extra towards something.

I'll be doing a 5 year finance either way and can afford that without any issues. I think the 2010 has an aftermarket kit on it or something, I'm not very knowledgeable with this stuff yet, but the front end looks sexy. Here's a pic
    2010tac_zps39b11ae7_700dca2f561dd40535146b0bc481500ceee8047d.jpg

I'm just scared of having that feeling of "the one that got away", but I definitely see your point about buying new. I'll have to look into some aftermarket stuff if that's what the difference is between the two, visually.

Calculate the resale value of both and the price difference shrinks significantly.

Pay now or later. I've learned to pay now.

    14' ALL the way.

PS: price out a warranty for the used to match the new and I bet you come out ahead in the new.

Tacomas hold their resale so much better than just about every other vehicle out there that it's the rare exception to the slightly used is better than new equation.

32K$ is pretty steep if you ask me. I live in Canada too and I got mine last year with 39000km for 21k$. I'd keep looking for a used one but cheaper or get a new one.

I'd definitely go with the 2014. 32K for a 12' with 81k seems like a Lot to me.
Lots of miles for a truck that's 2.5 years old without a warranty.

    I bought a 13' SR5 4X4 DCSB with 15K about a month ago for $29,400 out the
door. I didn't finance it and get the extended warranty.

In SW Michigan, where I'm from, used 13's with low miles are hard to find.
I'd try to find a 13' like I did and save some $$.
I had to go to a dealer 55 miles from where I live to get my truck.

When buying a tacoma, new makes so much more sense. If you were buying an F 150 which depreciates so fast than I'd go with two years old. Let someone else pay that depreciation. That new Tacoma is going to be worth a lot in two years so as far as a car goes it's a decent investment. Go new FOR SURE

Ouch $39,000 for a new 2014 TRD sport.
I only paid about $33,000 for my new 2014 TRD offroad 4x4.
Maybe it has some goodies on it that I don't have.

I don't think there was many other options I could have added, I would check around on that price.

If you can afford it I'd go new, I wouldn't pay 32k for a 4 year taco with that many km that's been modded.

I say new or talk the used one down into the 20's.
