    Hello All!!!

I have a 06 4 door trd tacoma. 6 speed manual. I have around 70k miles on it. the ride seems very harsh especially in the rear. Everything is stock on my truck. What brand and model number shocks do you recommend I replace with? I want to replace all 4. Thanks in advance

you could just go to autozone and ask for a direct replacement.

i mean, if you want to remain at stock height.. no need. stock height, stock ride... autozone works just fine. if you want lift or extended travel or something, thats a whole different story.

If you were to search just a little bit, you would have enough info for days of reading. Then you could make your own decision based on your conclusions. Sorry, bad mood today, get billies all around and you won't be disappointed.

I used Monroe OESpectrum on my '06 and were happy with them... a whole lot cheaper than the rusted out Bilsteins that I removed.

hey guys, I am still so confused on what shocks to get for my truck. I am not going to lift it, i will keep it stock height. But once I figure out what rear shocks im going with and install them, do I need to get alignment?

no alignment necessary when replacing rear shocks. Alignment is only required when replacing struts, which a Tacoma only has up front.

I kept my struts for 175k with no issues. I only replaced the rears with OESpectrums since my Bilsteins were rusting away. I was pleased with them in the back. Be aware that you need a spring compressor to rebuild the front struts. Btw, I do not recommend Monroe quick struts for the front, they clunk on my Camry.

Know this is an old thread but if anyone is researching this and wants more info/input here it is.

I originally wanted the Bilstein 5100's, placed my order for $350 and was trying to plan if I wanted to risk doing the spring swap, or trying to find someone who would. Then, I get an e-mail that they are on a 2 month backorder. Did not want to wait that long so I cancelled that and started looking at a different brand. So I went ahead and ordered the Monroe OESpectrum "Quickstrut" with shocks to go in the rear as well.

Just received and installed my order from Rockauto.com. I only paid $50 more than those E-bay ones with no springs attached. If you are going to go the Monroe route, just get the new springs too. My old factory Bilsteins had 175k on them and I am happy with the Monroes so far. No clunking, no issues at all. Rides 1000x better than my factory Bilsteins.

Sure, they quality won't be near as good as the Bilstein 5100's. I cannot adjust the front height at all (truck is completely stock anyways so I figured it didn't matter) But, for $50 less than the Bilsteins I got decent shocks/struts and avoided the hassle of swapping my springs AND got brand new springs.

In the end you get what you pay for. These are not the best/most expensive struts you can buy, but certainly not the worst! These are way better than those 100 "Prime Choice" struts you can buy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Strut...2004|Model:Tacoma&hash=item3f1bfa8034&vxp=mtr <--AVOID THESE AT ALL COSTS!

For someone like me who does not do a whole lot of off roading Monroes work just fine :)
