    guys,

I have a question concerning the hydraulic brake booster in the 2011 TRD Offroad...

    What is this? Tacomabrake2_6368a2a56e37b71612bfcce5c67fde7101ca49c9.jpg

I'm planning to flush my brake fluid this weekend and was wondering what this is and if it something that I should replace.

    Thanks for the info

My Japanese is not real good and the French I can't read but my guess is it is an accumulator and probably has a very large spring inside and they are telling you not to take it apart. It gives the hydraulic boaster system a kick if the engine quits.

    cool, thanks

I was wondering if it was some replaceable part as it has the nut on top for easy removal

It is a Hydraulic accumulator and is charged by a pump/motor assembly I.A.W. the field service manual. As maineah stated it will keep the brake boost after the loss of the main hydraulics pump. I think the manual says for about 20 strokes of the brake pedal. Actually what it says is 20 strokes will bleed the booster accumulator down.

I would say if the pedal is firm and working as it should, leave it alone.
