I tried to get a 4x2 4 cylinder manual trans access cab for several months, working with the dealer referred by the Costco auto program. He finally got frustrated with not being able to find anything and the dealership got Toyota to build one. His comment was that they're sold the minute they come in, which is why no dealers have any in stock. Mine came with 5 miles on the odometer when it finally arrived

I had a bitch of a time out here in CA when I was looking to upgrade my '09 ACOR 2wd to a '14 ACOR 4x4. I wanted the same color as well MGM. It took me and others on this forum to locate one and I did on Valentine's Day! Wife loves me for that. Drove 200mi. to get it and turned in my '09. Since then I've only seen one other like it in N.Cal. I love my long bed because I use it to haul stuff. Today went to Costco, Pet Smart and Lowes and was able to load up the bed and even behind the seats. Still could've had another person ride if needed. Couldn't do that with a short bed.

I've stopped looking as I have what I need now. It also was perfect timing as I needed to make a trip over the Sierra's last week and got to use the 4wd feature. Loved not having to use chains.

Found my truck on Cars.com. Good luck on your hunting and hope you find what you want.

I had a very hard time, had to order mine last November.
2014 AC TRD offroad 4x4 V6, magnetic grey metallic.
Dealer could not find one in the Southeast.:(

When the truck arrived at the dealer they had to hide it, everybody that saw it asked if they could buy it.
They put it in a large garage off of the showroom.

They said they wished they had ordered three or four of them at the same time.
Sales guy said they could have sold them all in one day.

When I bought mine dealer said at the time I had the only one like it in the state.
I went thru Costco, got a great price.;)

When I was looking for my AC I had a hard time in Atlanta also. I wanted a red one with the SR5 package. I was willing to settle for a different color. I finally found a red one that would be delivered in about 3 weeks. When I went to pick it up, it was the only AC on the lot. There were about 20 DC's though. I drove it off the lot 3 hours after it arrived and I have not looked back.

I was told by a salesman at my local dealer that if I were to special order a truck, I would pretty much pay sticker price. Is that what all you guys did? Or is it just some bs to get people to buy stuff on the lot.

When I was doing the paperwork to get my 2014, the truck was sitting out front in one of those display spots. Two guys stopped in wanting to look at it

Tell them you should a much better deal as the truck is already sold so they have no skin in the game. Mine was about 2k under when I ordered it also.

Had to order my AC...still waiting. The wait is brutal, but it will be worth it because it will be exactly what you want. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Seems to have the "shopping cart magnet" modification installed.
I really wanted the access cab but the local dealer gave me an offer that I could not refuse on a double cab. I had finally decided on the pyrite mica after seeing several colors next to each other and I was told an V6/Pyrite/AT/access/ would not be available in the entire southeast until the end of May. I just could not wait that long as I had lost my other tacoma in a car wreck so I was currently sharing a vehicle.

I hope the shorter bed won't be too much of an issue. The dealer chopped over $3500 off of the sticker price so that brought the price down to the upper 26k range. I found various bed extenders including one that fits in the trailer hitch which looks like it would solve my hauling issues when it comes up.

Thanks for all the input! It was much appreciated.

We recently bought a Tacoma AC and it was the minority Tacoma on the lot. I wanted the longer bed but not the longer/extra cab (I did, but the wife didn't). Guess we lucked out, other than the vibrations we got the right color and options.
