Well it's happened, my poor baby got a boo boo today on the way to Kansas Rocks Recreation park, I was 7miles away and made a left hand turn when a big cummins with a trailer came over the hill and couldn't slow down in time and caught the very end of my bed/bumper.. Probably gonna end up being my fault even though the damage clearly shows I was far enough out of his way that he didn't hit the flare or even close enough to the flare to break it or knock it completely loose from the bed. Oh well at least I'm alive the truck did great on the trails and I made the 3hour drive home covered in thick glorious brown mud! Hopefully I'll find out this week what the damage will cost me and if I'm gonna be at fault.7uhe7esa_3a7b4d48bfe8ba757e429863ffc4d4d87875e11a.jpg

OUCH.... new bedside here you come! A friend of mine backed into a bright yellow painted pole about 2 weeks ago with his '14.... $2500 damage. I had to laugh, it couldn't be any brighter unless it had a beacon on top of it and he hit it anyway.

Yeah well not only is the bed side done for but where the rear bumper mounts bent on both ends of the frame so that's another story

It was on a hill, he came over the crest halfway through my turn and couldn't slow down in time for me to get completely out of the road. Like I said I was almost completely off the road when he clipped me, never said it wasn't my fault, just not entirely my fault. I actually never said it was his fault either. We were both at fault, me for not being more careful and him for driving too fast with a trailer in tow, I never saw him crest the hill and didn't know he was there until I heard him hit the breaks right before hitting me. I'll admit I wasn't being as careful as I should have been and he technically had the right of way even though I didn't know he was coming across the hill, but it's just funny to me that I'll take the blame completely because of the fact he gad the right of way regardless of if he was visible or not.

You also don't know that he was speeding, unless he admits he was, or the accident investigators say he was based on the skid marks, yet you say he was.

And if you heard the brakes, before you seen him, it means he seen you, which means you were not paying attention.

    Good luck with that..

Look on the bright side. If that Dodge was over 1 year old, total loss, and your fault. You'd only be out about a grand for the Dodge.

Ouch man, Im right there with you... In all these things, the most important part is you're ok. I think he will get the blame as the damage is well past the mark where the yielder is held accountable.

When you get a new bumper, I suggest you fab a support bar to connect the outside tubing to your frame mount (may have to cut the bed fender to maintain clearance) or just get a different bumper . Those side supports dont hold up well without additional support.

    Read his post.
Give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didnt see the truck :p

I'm pretty sure you're the only person here who can read. I admitted to being half at fault for not turning quickly enough, and I DIDN'T see him. And I hope you're right about the part where the yielder should be held accountable for how far back he hit. But we'll see, it's in someone else's hands now. Hopefully not anyone in this thread who thinks I should be held accountable for it solely based on the fact it turned left.

Didn't spin, and if that's "messed up" then I'd hate to see what you consider totaled, it is literally a headlight and a fender away from looking almost brand new again. The corner of his bumper is what took me out, it bent his bumper and he could have easily pulled the bumper out far enough and replaced the headlight and fender and been on his way, considering it was his work truck. However I do understand that if his truck had panels from 6 different trucks all different colors and he got in the same accident he'd be just as upset and expect it to be fixed, I know I would.

Get off the guy everyone. I've had something very similar happen to me and guess what: the other guy was at fault because he was doing 80 in a 40. None of you except for the OP has a clue how everything exactly went down, what was seen or not, or how well anyone was paying attention. So get off his back. OP, good luck with fixing your truck, hope it turns out ok.
