Greetings everyone. After driving my 96 Xtra Cab (great truck!) for the last 18 years I decided to finally buy another one. I placed my order with the dealer last week and my build is pretty basic:

    2014 AC in silver
    4 cyl 2wd, auto trans.
    SR Package

So now I'm waiting and I've got a couple of questions for those in the know:

If you ordered your SR, how long did it take?

Did your SR come with the front skid plate?

    Thank you!

i have a 2014 sr 4x4 v6 magnetic grey and it has a cheesy skid plate, well it looks like a skid plate.
i'm going to get a bull bar that has a skid plate from amozon for $150 and they bolt on.

2014 Access Cab 4 cylinder 4x2 manual transmission with SR5 package. Dealer couldn't find any anywhere, so ordered from Toyota. It took several weeks. I don't think it has front skid plates

Replaced my 1988 standard cab Toyota pickup with this one. It's huge and luxurious by comparison

The dealer told me it would take about 6 to 8 weeks to get it. Was that your experience? Hopefully it won't take that long. :)

I got lucky and found the only black one in my state, I built it and it showed 1 (in black) local but the closest dealers didn't have it nor did they say one was out there... I search dealers inventory and found it. If the dealers don't want to bring it in or if they can't swap for it, they should point you in the right direction and tell you who has the darn thing! Toyota should list the dealer that has it in stock on their site like Jeep does, it would have saved me a lot of time, they almost lost a customer, almost went to a Wrangler.

I bought a grey V6 6-spd 4x4 access cab w/nav and the SR5 package as it was on the lot at my dealer and it rode nicer than the TRD Package while being cheaper.

The SR5 comes with kind of a metal front plate but it's not much. I bought a take off-TRD Skid Plate from someone here for a bit. Check Craigslist, they can usually be found fairly cheaply.

Dealer was giving me the same crap, I went to each dealers website in my state and checked their new inventory, found it! Give it a try if you are still looking.

I don't know what trims do or do not come w/ the skid plate, I saw all kinds of different answers when I was looking to buy mine. I ended up with one and all I can say is it's not worth the hassle - it's so weak I wouldn't want to hit anything tougher than a fresh snow drift with it. If you want a real skid plate you'll have to go aftermarket.

They call it a skid plate, it is cosmetic! You hit a snow drift with that thing and it will be bent up! All that thing will do is protect you from high grass! lol

Looks nice! I think the "build it" thing on Toyota's website sucks. Maybe it's just the Gulf States Toyota region but I really couldn't build anything, just change colors. I contacted four dealers and only two were willing to order my SR. And then when I got there they tried to get me interested in something else! It's been four weeks now since my order and I think I'll give them a call today. I've read they should be able to track the progress of my build.

In the brochure only the TRD Off-Road package lists the skid plate, but the print-out of my build has the skid plate listed on it. I wasn't expecting that so thought I'd ask if others got it with their SR. It does look flimsy!

My 2013 TRD O/R I found one nearby in the config I wanted, but in 2004 when I bought my Gen 1, I had to order the truck, almost exactly the same as what you are getting only with 4wd. It took 3 weeks.

I found mine by searching almost every dealer in CA. I found one dealer that had 2 of these. And it was the exact same truck I wanted.

Very nice!! I wish I could have been as lucky in finding mine. Oh well, another 2-4 weeks and all is good. Did yours come with the skid plate?

My prerunner came with the same flimsy metal plate others talk about. Look at this as a debris deflector, gravel, mud etc won't get sucked into the lower-front engine/fan area; deflects it back down.

Unless you're going seriously off-road (2wd?) then I wouldn't worry about it. You'd have to at least have a Prerunner with the ground clearance so do anything more than basic gravel/rut dirt roads. If you really want one though, it's a bolt-on.

I'll not be off-roading just curious. I think "deflector" describes it perfectly!
