So, I noticed last night and again this morning that Betty was cranking a bit slower when I turned the key. I swung by my local tire chain store and had them park a new Interstate 650 in there.

Turns out, it was the original that finally gave in.

My truck is a 2008...meaning the battery was installed some time in the summer of 2007. In Florida, a battery lasting 6.5 years is right up there with winning the lottery.

I usually plan on replacing the battery every 2 or 3 years.

How long have yours been in? Also, what brand? I'm a big fan of Interstate and had very good luck with them.

I replaced mine as standard procedure at the 5 year mark. The old one never failed. I also used the most powerful oem toyota tacoma battery I could find which was the 84 month 27F 00544-27F60-710

When I researched nothing beat the Toyota battery for the price from what I saw.

I thought this winter would have killed my 09 stock battery for sure, but it didn't blink an eye at -16 degrees.

I go 2 years between batteries on average but I routinely spend weekends at camp where it's 20 below zero or more. That is hard on a battery.
