    Hey Tacoma World!

I'm a new member, and possibly a soon to be Tacoma owner. I've been in the market for a new pick up for quite sometime... just waiting for the right deal to come around. I have two German Shepherds, so I've been particularly looking for something with a cap on it (I've been doing research on air circulation/ventilation to the bed, so no need to bring that up). I came across what I thought was a killer deal today. 2005 Toyota Tacoma SR5, 4.0 V6 auto, 4x4, w/ 68,000 miles for $16,400... with a bed cap! I went to drive out to look at it and it looks to be in great shape. The small dealership was closed, so I didn't get a chance to test drive it. I plan on going out tomorrow and checking it out.

Other than questioning why this is so cheap, is there anything I should be looking for in this particular year/model? Any known issues?

Any advance would be helpful. Thanks in advance, and hope to be joining you all as a Tacoma owner! :)

Holy smokes! Like I said, makes me wonder why this one is so cheap, or if it's just my lucky day. Comparing it to comps, it just doesn't add up.

So, just to update - this was an R-titled vehicle. I went for it anyways. I checked it from top to bottom, and also had my trusted mechanic check it. No problems found. I've had it for 4 months now and absolutely love it!

I've rebuilt totaled cars, and my son owned one. Personally, if its fixed right, there should be no hesitation. On the other hand, like my son's Camaro, if it's not done right, it will take a while to get through the weird failures and the uh-ohs that you find. A couple of roadside rescues and it was finally dependable. The car that I did was as good as new.

Nice ride. I have an 05dbcb OR I picked up a couple years ago. it was elderly owned and had only 20000 miles on it. Always garaged and in excellent condition. Have had good luck with it and have aqdded some mods along the way.

    Good looking pup btw!!!

sometimes you can get lucky and buy one with a great price with no problems, no accidents etc.... but you may need to look for awhile , I found one but took me over 7 months of searching everyday....

I bought my '05 Tacoma double cab 4x4, base model with new Leer camper shell , 103K orig miles from the original owner with original window sticker and complete maintenance records since it was brand new for $15,500
