Does the backup camera give you a beeping warning when you get real close to an object on a 2014 DCLB? My wife's Camaro does and quite frankly I haven't paid attention to my truck. Right now, it doesn't. Thanks.

No it won't beep. those are two seperate systems. those work by using small sensors in the bumpers which essentially use radar to see how close you are getting to something. the camera is exactly that, a picture of what you are about to hit.

I dont care for my camera. I feel what you see in it is kinda like the warning on most passenger mirrors ( things are closer then they appear ).Accident waiting to happen for me.

Yep, I was told the red line was an 18" offset. From my experience it's pretty accurate.

I was wondering this myself. My old car and my wife's car give a warning.

Now I need to dive into my Nav manual and figure out how to make the damn thing talk to me. I don't get the voice commands right now and I know there's a way to set that up.

Still have to set up my "home" address, too.

Best time to play with that is when the wife is in the mall and you're waiting outside:p

Married 25 years in June. She goes to the mall by herself. I don't like 'shopping' and I don't like waiting.

I'll likely just tinker with it next time I am in the garage.

I sat in my driveway for an hour & a half the other night pushing buttons, browsing through the owner's manual. It's overwhelming and cool how much that system can do.

Supposedly there is a way to send texts via voice. At least that's what the dealer told me when he was demo'ing the truck for me. Never showed me how, though.

Yea, I read through the manual on how to do it, but I disabled the text and email feature; that's just going too far IMO.

I appreciate being able to answer my phone with my steering wheel, but no text or email is important enough to worry about until I get to where I'm going. They can just call me if they need to talk to me. Isn't that what everybody used to use phones for? :D

I recently got a new Nokia Windows phone (P.O.S, like a small frekin' TV) but all of a sudden my '13 Tacoma and '07 Camry started reading texts to me. You can talk back to it too, it will type texts for you..... I like it a lot, especially since the accuracy seems to be very good.
