Mine just worked when i pressed the sat button. My truck is apparently and anomaly because I am not paying for XM and have had it for over 4 months.

I have Sirius, but it just depends on your preference. If I had to start over, I would probably go with XM. XM has MLB and you can add the Sirius stuff by adding the best of Sirius package. baseball isn't letting Sirius add mlb to it's best of XM package. They are both owned by the same company now.

If you add Sirius, here are the instructions:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/28731-sirius-factory-radio-install-2009-tacoma.html

If you add XM, here are the instructions:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/22644-09-xm-radio-install.html

It's pretty easy. you need to make sure you have a compatible tuner, a wiring harness for the factory tuner and a wiring harness to get to the factory sharkfin antenna.

Another option is to replace the factory head unit, if you go that route, your best bet is to just call Crutchfield and let them walk you through what you need. It's not hard either.

    Not yet,
You have to get the tuner and wiring harness. It cost around $325 for both from the dealer, not installed. I would check ebay/craigslist first. It is XM.

There are OEM Toyota XM and Sirius receivers for 05-08s. they are more than likely the same as the '09 except the instructions. Plus the '09 has a sharkfin sat antenna
