So i have recently received this compressor.
i have a 2012 DC Tacoma, id like to mount this compressor behind or under the rear seat.

i have 2 things to ask you fine people.

    1. any pictures on where and how you mounded your compressor inside the cab?

and 2. how did you go about wiring it for this application?

    Let the ideas flow.

    Thanks

Where about did you send the wires? i'm planning a dual battery set up, and will have a fuse block or 2 inside the cab. but the wires seem a little short to run back out direct to a battery without extending them.

You will have to extend them.

Looks nice. Is that in a dual cab or access cab? Looks like you made a custom bracket to mount it prior to mounting on the back wall; is that right?

I have the same compressor but haven't found a satisfactory place to mount it yet, but you've got my interest here with this location.

    MrGrimm,

Just checked your profile and saw you have a double cab. Were you able to re-install the plastic storage panel over the air compressor?

No. I haven't had those back there for years. I ditched them so I could put more stuff behind the seats.

Any issues in routing the wiring from the compressor? I'm assuming you had to remove a good amount of the interior if you routed it cleanly.

It was routed along the drivers side so not alot had to come out.

Is it problematic to mount the compressor in the engine bay? Obviously it's more exposed to weather, water, dust, etc. but isn't it a fully sealed unit?

I put mine right behind the fuse box and battery location. I have taken it on several trips. Rain, dust, and other things and it has held up great!

Shmell - your photo is of the single compressor version. I have not tried to fit the dual compressor version in that location. However, I did have the dual compressor version mounted in the engine bay of my '08 4Runner and it seemed to be fine. In the '14 Taco I don't seem to have as much room as I had in the 4Runner engine bay. I'm sure if there was a simple way to mount it securely in the engine bay that that would be just as good as behind the rear seat (save for fording a creek or something similar).

Hahhaa realized it was a twin air compressor thread after I posted my 2 cents. My bad. But yeah like you said I think if there is a good place to put it under the hood it should be all good as far as elements and being safe from them

No. This is the most common place to mount the compressor in all applications. I wouldn't mount it in the cab for several reasons. Noise, distance from battery, routing of electrical and air lines, etc.

I mounted mine in the engine compartment.

I built a simple sheet metal bracket that utilized the three bolts on top of the wheel well. It's a snug fit, and getting all the bolts for mounting the compressor to the bracket was a bit tricky. So far it has worked very well and I have had no issues with it.

    Hope this helps!

I really like this position. Do you have any pictures of the bracket?

Because of the supercharger there was no real obvious place to put the compressor. I ended up mounting it right on top of the fuse box cover. I was concerned at first but after mounting it, it seems like a decent place. It's much more secure than I initially thought it would be. So until it presents itself as a problem it will stay there.
