OK, here are some picts of the new Tacoma. Just put on the new Snugtop Outback canopy (http://www.snugtop.com/product/outback), which finally arrived today. Ordered it with side-opening windows, fishing rod rack in the ceiling and insulation. Added a BedRug (http://www.bedrug.com/products/bed-liners/bed-rug.html) in the pickup bed for more insulation, then installed an AirBedz inflatable mattress (http://www.truckairbedz.com), which fits around/over the wheel wells, making a full bed. Add a double sleeping bag and pillows and we’re in business! Just got to figure out privacy screening over windows. Any ideas? Can’t drill holes for curtain rods but maybe something with Velcro.

Great looking (and functional) shell. You'll have a good night's sleep back there.

Velcro works great on the carpeted interior headliner. Probably the least expensive way to get you some privacy. Just sew some velcro to a piece of fabric and you're in business. That's an awesome looking rig...

How much did the Snugtop run you? I paid over 2k for a Rebel with windoors. Great products, but man they are not cheap.

It ran about $3200 plus tax, because of extras, which include tilt-up side windows, tilt-down sliding front window, carpet lining of entire interior (I added a matching BedRug later), fishing rod rack, clothes hanger, and rear lock keyed to my ignition key. Dealer: Super Hawk Canopies in Burlington, WA.

The only hitch in the deal was relocating the back-up camera since we had to remove the tailgate. Mobile Music in Bellingham, WA were able to extract it from the tailgate and remount it over the license plate (took 30 minutes). If you look closely, you will see Snugtop makes a place for a camera above the right door but it would have been far more expensive to put it there.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm pretty proud of it. Work in progress, as you know well. Next is a grill guard. Open to suggestions.

Curious to know if you've been happy with the Outback? I'm strongly considering the same shell for my 2010 DCLB. Any shortcomings? Thanks in advance for any feedback that you can provide.

Very nice canopy! I'm exploring all of my options for camping: Pop-Up Camper, Shell, Build-my-own, etc. This is an intriguing option. I'd love to hear what your thoughts are after having it on for a while. How are the back doors and frame holding up? Leak (water and dust) free?

I really wish they would make a hi-top version. It would be ideal to be able to sit up in bed if the bed was sitting right on top of the wheelwells.

Just a thought but if you decide on Velcro then while you are at is you could Velcro around the entire windows and then add some window/door screen to keep bugs out and keep a nice breeze in there on warmer days.

How do you feel about the cap after 2 1/2 years with it?

Sick setup! I'm super interested in a shell with double barn doors. Trying to stay away from aluminum because I've read that people have run into cracking at the welds under strong flexing.

What's it like for closing and latching the door shut when you're inside of the shell? that is my only concern. Thanks for the thread

That looks amazing, I was debating between that and the rebel.

I'm thinking of getting one of these.
Do the doors open/lock/unlock from the inside?

Do you have specs on how much this weighs? I am shopping caps and really like this one. My concern is how heavy it is. I don’t have much cargo capacity left to work with. Thanks
