I waited to take my '11 Tacoma Access Cab in for the seat belt recall in hopes they would develop some expertise.
Called today for an appointment. Had to make one to take it in and they keep it for an hour to see "if it needs the work." Then they will order the parts, which are already backordered for others. Asked about waiting until they had parts in stock and service advisor said I had to bring it in before they would order the parts.
    This really sucks!

Didn't they send you a letter for the recall? That is a mandatory recall they don't need to look at your truck.

Depends on whether the screws came loose yet or not IIRC. They didn't have to replace anything but the screws on mine. If the tensioners are already rattling around in the door they're supposed to replace the whole mess, and that's what's potentially backordered.

It should explain it better on the recall notice

Notice says 1.5 hours to do the repair, which (IMO) should include replacing the pre-tensioners if required.
Says dealer will inspect system and replace all four screws. If all four screws are lose at time of inspection, will replace seat belt pre-tensioner. Nothing about ordering them first.
Don't think much of them having to remove and replace the panels twice for what should be a one time job.

It only takes them about half a hour. They replaced all mine. Now I have to take my door panels off to tighten the bolts because the idiots who changed it out didn't. It rattles over every tiny bump.

I made an appointment with a local dealership. They said over the phone it should take them an hour or so. Took four hours.

    back to bone stock.

Your truck probably sat for three hours?

Mine was done in one hour. But I left it with them for the day. They called me fast to tell me to come and get it.
