I just picked up this beautiful piece of equipment from our southern service yard with only 25 miles on the odometer. After a long struggle with the Chevy Colorado, the powers that be finally decided to give the Tacoma a try. I promised my Lt. I would blur out any department identifiers.

So here it is, a Code 3 patrol Tacoma, DCSB, V6, Auto, 4X4.

Mods are planned, but with our tight budget (and certain approval processes) it may take a long time before it is ready for some serious back-country patrol.

(As a side note: to the unit that this truck was originally meant for, I sincerely apologize that my good fortune to receive my dream work vehicle came at your expense. I will make it up to you in whatever way I can.)

    UPDATE:

Here are some photos of the radio antennas mounted and the one of the things that the installers got right, the location and easy access of the fuse block.

Center console showing the half of a cup holder the installers left me.

Rifle mount I custom fabricated (because NO ONE makes LE equipment for a Tacoma).

Finally had a chance to work out the rack for the 870.

Both long guns, ready to rock.

Since I've been getting a lot of questions about the rifle mount I built, here are some better photos.

That is awesome! I am jealous!! I like the two Code lights hidden in the grill. My UC car has the same thing. Tell your boss Tacoma World demands modifications ASAP!!

Nice, LAPD and SDPD along with the Life guards have been using a small number Tacomas since the ranger went bye bye and Colorado has had issues here in Cali.

Is that a heat sink or a mic on that flexible thing, passenger side?

Talk the powers that be into getting some decent tires - maybe they could use the dunlops on an existing vehicle not used for patrol (use that argument if they claim budget issues).

At the end of that flexible shaft is a map light. Because it generates a lot of heat (can't believe that haven't switched to a cooler LED) it does have a heat sink built into the bulb housing.

Since that interior picture, I have completely rearranged the center console as the ergonomics layout was terrible. Now to figure out the gun locks...

Duratracs will be installed as soon as I can justify the purchase. Once I actually start using the truck off-road and the Dunlops get shredded, it will be easy to justify. Unfortunately, we don't have any other fleet vehicles nearby that use this tire size.

whats the 'rare' part? i don't follow? looks like normal tacoma with some electronics and lights? mine has electronics to jam all that LEO stuff, lol, and infrared military spot lights, i don't think its 'rare' at all, just has toys?

rare would be having multiple packages or (what i was fighting with daler over) a sport with E-Lockers :)

as far as being a patrol vehicle, thats standard here, even wal-mart security has tacomas?

    just wondering...

    cheers,

Plastikote those rims ASAP. Just do it in the field when your on patrol, I would bet no one notices, and if they do, just say it needed to be done for camoflage reasons :D

Since I am sure selling the new rim idea would be just about impossible
