I'm looking to level the front of my 08 DC 4x4 with the rear. I'm going to go the Billstein 5100 route instead of a spacer. What setting would I need to choose in order to equal the front end to the rear? From what I'm seeing 1.75" is what I'd set these at???

Count your rear leafs. If you have 2+1, than the .85" setting. If you have 3+1, than 1.75". You can also measure the difference from the front and rear and that will tell you how much. Your rears may be sagging a little depending on mileage.

Do you have a 3 or 4 leaf rear?

Another way is to measure what kinda rake you have as it sits stock. Then make your decision from those numbers. If you have the 3 leaf rear then .85 might me a better setting unless you like the bro-lean look. If your on 4 leaf rear I think you'll be close to level if you set the billies on the 1.75" notch, but possibly slightly nose high.

What cab/engine configuration do you have? If you have a regular cab then .85" might work. If you have a V6 and double cab, set them at 1.75".

I can add these shocks to the front WITHOUT new springs, correct? I can use the factory coil?

I have the 4 leaf pack with the billies at 1.75. Mine looks perfectly level. Extremely happy with that setting.

I have the three leaf package in the rear of my 2008. I asked the folks at suspensionconnection.com about the settings and what they thought I would need to level the front of my Taco with the rear and was told by a tech there either the 2" or 2.5" setting.

My truck is all stock, TRD DC Base, 17" factory rims, 265-65-17 tires, no lift, no other mods. What setting, for sure, will I need?

In the YouTube videos on these shocks, it states the settings on the 5100's are 1", 1.5", 2" and 2.5".

I'm completely confused now after what they told me and watching these vids. Is the claimed .85 setting here actually the 1" setting on the shock? I want the truck level, not the front or back higher that the other, LEVEL!

    Thanks, guys!

The 3 leaf pack (2+1) will be the .85" setting. 1.75" will put you nose high.

You really need to measure the difference between the front and rear of your truck. That will be the most accurate way to figure out what you need. Your rear leafs could be slightly worn and be sagging.

The settings on the 5100's are 0", .85", 1.75, and 2.5". The settings are very close to actual lift.

That video that said 1, 1.5, and 2 is not correct for the tacoma 5100's.

I just picked up a '14 TRD O/R access cab, it has the 4-leak pack, and the front is about 1.5 inches lower than the rear. When I eventually do 5100's, I'll set them at .85" because I hate when the front is higher than the rear....

Thank you guys! I'd rather hear this from people who have done this prior than from a salesman who doesn't quite know his product! .85 it is!

One final 5100 question. Does the entire shock need pulled if an adjustment is to be made? (ex: to go from .85" to 1.75")

I placed my order last night for these! $89.06 per.

Next up on the "to do" list"
    exhaust
    wheels

Thanks guys for all the help and advice!

I have wondered about that question, too. I would say yes, but the guys here would know much better than I.

Since each truck is slightly different, the best way to determine your height setting is to measure how high your rear fender is to the ground and compare to front measurement. Based on the difference, figure which setting will not make the front higher than the rear.

If doing aal, do the rear first in order to figure where to set the front.

You have to remove the whole thing in order to change the setting on the front 5100. So best to do it once.

Yes, the entire assemble needs to be removed and disassembled, adjusted, reassembled, reinstalled. lol. Pretty cumbersome actually. As others have said though, i'd measure before I choose a setting. All trucks are different and since you have an 08 you might have more rear sag than newer trucks.

FWIW, I was very nose high at the 1.75 setting with stock rear end.

06 TRD O/R access cab 5100's on stock coils set at 1.75. Sits perfectly level with no rake. If you wanted to adjust them after you mount them then you'd pretty much have to take them out basically. The way I installed them required no jack or spring compressors and took about a hour and a half or so. Just gotta get the pressure off the spring and once you've done that you can move the clip up or down. Don't over think this, lol. Here's some pics just for fun.
