I'm considering buying a 2009 Tacoma. I owned a 2005 and loved it. Wish I would have never gotten rid of it. I've contacted some dealers and proposed a deal of invoice minus the current $1500 rebate. 3 places have agreed. I admit I was a little surprised they agreed so easily and it makes me wonder if they might go even lower. This is the truck that I want...

    2009 Tacoma TRD Sport
    Magnetic Gray Metallic
    Stereo Upgrade (the $200 option)
    Daytime Running Lights
    V6 Towing Package
    Window tint
    Floor mats
    Shield Protection

Sticker is $28,342 and invoice is around $26,100. So with the rebate I'm looking at about $24,600. What do you think?

Buy it. That's not much more than I paid for my 2008 4 banger.

If three dealers have agreed, use that against them to see if any of them will go lower.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm about to head over to have my trade evaluated. If they can give me what I need for it, I'll do the deal. I've already had one dealer agree to give me what I need for the trade, but they don't have the truck I want.

Oh to answer an earlier question...it's a Prerunner, Double Cab.

What does everyone think of the Magnetic Gray? I like the fact that it's a newer color and will probably be easy to keep looking clean. I also like the black and the Barcelona Red if for some reason the gray one falls through.

Sound like a good deal. I wanted a gray Tacoma when I bought mine, but they didnt make it. If I got a new one, it would either be the Magnetic grey, or the Pyrite Mica Hope to see ya as an owner on here in the near future!

that price sounds about right. I am not really in the market (yet) for a TACO but for the fun of it went to 3 dealers. Emailed all 3 to see what they would do.

I'm looking at a SR5 Access and sticker ran around $27,7 and with the exception of one dealer they went as low as $23,8 (didn't tell them I had a trade). The one dealer that wouldn't budge is building a new auto park so maybe that's why. They wanted $24,9. forget that.

I noticed of the 3 dealers 2 of them had 1 09 Tundra. Both dealers were trying to get me to buy that one instead of the Tacoma it was funny. One Tundra was a white double cab SR5 stickered at 35k and the sales kid said he would be able to do a very low price if I were serious. He kept saying "really low you won't believe it". Huh. The other dealer had a more simple Tundra double cab for just about 30k and again said if i were truly interested they could offer a very good deal that I wouldn't walk away from. This dealer also had a used 2007 Tundra regular for $18k and one 08 Tundra full size bus for about 38k!?

First off I'd never need such a truck and the amount of gas that thing takes, forget it. Its no wonder no one buys those.

Seeing how a lot of folks I know do not have jobs at the time I can't see anyone really buying any high ticket item today. The dealers need to move this stuff. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna see what 09s are left in September or wait for the 2010s. Hopefully there will still be deals then.

Ok guys I'm back from the dealership. Things went well while there, but there's a slight hiccup now.

The numbers worked out fine...$24,7xx for the truck and $25,100 for my trade, which was actually $100 more than what I needed. They had to go get the truck from another lot about 2 hours away, so I chose not to do the paperwork until the truck is on hand. I just gave them a $500 deposit.

Now for the problem...they called me right after I left to tell me that the gray truck they have access to is actually a demo. They aren't very happy b/c the other lot didn't tell them this yesterday when they verified it was still there. They are searching pretty hard for another gray one, but there are none on Louisiana. So now I've just got to wait on them to search. If all else fails I'll get a black one, but the more I think about it the more I really want the gray.

If you want a little perspective, I'm waiting on my truck to get to the dealership now. It is pretty close to what you have there.

The invoice on my truck was $25,581. I got them down to $25,192 before $1500 rebate.

So yes, you can probably get another 4-500 knocked off if you pit them against each other.

    Good luck!

Edit: Now that I see you're situation, do not take the demo. Same thing happened to me. I passed on it. If you are really set on the Gray, then hold firm. Someone WILL get your truck at the price you want.

I just got a call back. They are having trouble locating another gray one in any of the surrounding states. They found out that the original truck only has 1200 miles on it, so it isn't a "full" demo. I asked if I was eligible for any sort of discount for it having 1200 miles on it and he said no not with that few miles. Not sure what to do. 1200 miles is not that many, but zero would have been better. I guess I could have them go get the truck and if it's anything less than perfect when I see it I'll just refuse it.

Also, wait for the grey... I'm 110% happy w/ mine...
