I have a 4x4 2007 Toyota Tacoma, I got into an accident, I got slammed in the passenger bed side. I got it repaired, with a new bed side, new bed liner, new axle housing and axle as well, with new tire and rim and shock and hub. The only problem is that the rear tire on the drivers side I noticed it slanted inward, the rear tire on the passenger side (side that got hit) is straight as it should be. Im just curious on how or why the side that didn't get hit would make the drivers side rear tire slanted in? How could this be fixed? Help would be greatly appreciated!

Is the ride height in the rear the same on both sides?

    Maybe damaged suspension?

We looked into that but it didn't change much at all. We were thinking that maybe the leaf spring mounts may have gotten bent from the spare tire? Could the leaf spring mounts make the tire slant?

After thinking about it, I guess if one side was slanted due to the suspension the other tire would be slanted.

yeah, that's what I don't get, the side that got hit is like brand new but the side that didn't get hit is slanted. The frame was bent but the frame shop straightened it. The bed and all lines up perfect. The only problem is that one tire.

So your driver side is like this / and your passenger side like this |? I wouldn't think that anything short of a bent rear end housing would cause that.

Do you mean slanted as in the top of the tire is angled in or out, or that the tire is closer or further from the cab?

its slanted like the back side of the tire is popped out and the front side of it is inward. The frame was checked and had a minor bent but was straightened out. The axle and housing was replaced with new factory.

I would take it back and get it checked. Maybe something is still bent, or the axle wasn't mounted properly and is too far forward or rearward.

Hard to say without seeing it. I believe the springs can be installed backwards, since I think the spring keeper bolt isn't centered in the pack. If so it could be throwing one side of the axle slightly back or forward. Like I said.. just trying to get a mental picture based on info. So, it might be something to look at. Good luck with it.

you don't think the leaf springs could have anything to deal with the tire being slightly bent? Like I said the spare tire looked like it slammed into the drivers side rear leaf spring mount and could have bent it upward.

It could definitely have something to do with it. If the mounting perch is bent, it will affect everything that's mounted to the spring.
