So I have been looking into possibly getting some fiberglass fenders and a tube bumper etc. to get the "Pre Runner" look on my truck. At the moment, I am not looking to spend a fortune and time maintaining long travel to give it the right look. But I was curious if spacers would give the same idea and fill in the space under the fenders. I have heard they harm your truck and that is the last thing I want. Thoughts?

Long travel kits are often 3" or more, which is what gives them the "wide" prerunner look. The biggest wheel spacer I would ever run is 1.25", so no it will look goofy with fiberglass and wheel spacers only. Trust me, I had my truck like that for a few months while I was putting my long travel kit together.

Wheel spacers just add the parts that have LOTS of wear on them, and most importantly, weight. They hold the weight of the truck onto the wheels, and the last thing you need is to extend them out further without the proper suspension geometry and support such as a long travel kit.

If you ask me, save your money now, and get a nice lift with proper size wheels/tires. You'll be much happier with the performance you'll get from the truck, and the look will grow on you.

I loved my mid-travel setup, and sometimes when I drive my buddies truck (he bought the kit from me), I miss how it drives and like it more than my current setup. LOL

Spacers add one more possible failure point to your truck, not to mention the stress of the offset that your stock bearings weren't meant to be stressed at.

That being said, lots of us run them including me. I've personally hit stuff hard enough to hit my upper control arms up into the fender wells and landed hard enough for a tail light to fall off
    Spacers still hangin on tight!

Don't use them to get a certain look though. Use em to clear tires until you can afford the right rims

Do tell? I'm pretty sure you're talking about strut spacers. We are talking wheel spacers.

Nope. I'm talking about wheel spacers.

By pushing the wheels out further, it effects the suspension. They made my truck ride very harsh.

Edit: This topic has been discussed at length on here before.

I highly doubt it was the wheel spacers unless it was vibes from poor install or quality of lug centric spacers. Did you have spidertrax hub centric spacers? If spacers cause harsh rides then all aftermarket wheels we put on our trucks would cause a harsh ride.

I did have hub centric spacers.

Anything that changes the effective length of the moment arm of the suspension, will effect ride quality in one way or another. So, yeah, different wheel offsets could effect it as well.

I like my truck to ride like it's on a cloud of titties, and the wheel spacers didn't help that.

Hey guys will I be able to use spacers on my 07 5lug with a ready lift running 31" tires.
I think it will look better and gain a little stability.

    What do you think?
