Gotchya! this is actually a dreaded suspension thread. but I pormise to post "half naked girl on tacoma" pics once I buy/install my suspension that you guys help me with :D

I have read the onslaught of threads about suspension upgrades and it has basically just confused me more than helped. I know everyone has 40 cents to chime in, and ill prob get a few "here we go again"s but nonetheless, I am hoping the wise and sarcastic posters here will help me out!

What I have: 13 DCSB 4x4 (pyrite on bronze trd rims, match made in heaven. Dirt/mud actually matches the paint)
What I am planning: Coilovers (Icon, Fox, King)
What I want: 1-2.5inches max lift (willing to AAL or change rear leafs)
What I want to spend: 2k-ish on parts
What it will be used for: 80% on road (daily driver), 20% off road (trails for fun, snowboarding trips, beach, camping, pulling trailer (rarely but still needs consideration), going up the driveway to my wifes family's mountain homes driveway (sounds silly at first, but its no joke, they park their Mercedes SUV at the bottom, then get in a lifted 95 Cruiser to traverse the .7 miles)

    Questions:
    1) What is the maintenance cycle for CO's with resi? can I do this? what does it entail?

    2) I would rather go overkill than underkill. I know that all forementioned suspension brands are nice, Icon at higher speed, King/Fox at lower speeds, Which setup would offer a better on road experience as I know all are capable off-road for my applications.

    3) I am adding armor to the front (ARB more than Likely) will I only need to change front springs? (lets say I start with 600-650lbs, go to 700?)

Please add any comments/recommendations you feel would help me in my decision, as well as random facts, information that is just funny, interesting, or just weird.
Feel free to post pictures of your Tacomas, Dogs, favorite beers, women (doesnt have to be yours), guns (rifles and handguns).

Thanks for taking the time to read and potentially help
    :oldglory: God blessa murica

That's not how this give and take works. You give us pics then you get the info lol for your budget though a full ome kit would be best.

Why spend that much money on parts when you can do it for close to $500 with an OME or Bilstein/Eibach lift? :notsure:

Lot of OME love so far. I considered that initially but after reading the positivity surround the CO kits, Im willing to fork over the money if its worth the money.

What will a higher end CO kit do for me that OME cannot? OME vs Fox/king/icon

If you're only wanting 3" and you're going to be on the highway most of the time, there's no point in dropping buku's of dollars on a lift. Most expensive lifts are more performance-based (Icon/King/Fox), rather than looks. If you're wanting a top-notch 3" lift that will be suitable for moderate off-roading, I'd go with the Bilstein 5100/Eibach springs (that's what I have) or the OME's...Bilstein vs. OME is like Mac vs PC....they're both great, but different strokes for different folks. If you plan on jumping dunes and/or climbing huge rocks where more travel is needed, go for something suited towards that...just trying to save you some $

EDIT: I'd say 90% of the people on here with a 3" lift are using either Bilstein's or OME's...the other 10% are doing some SERIOUS off-roading and are actually in need of a more performance-based coilover with separate reservoirs and all that jazz
