I have an 11 6 speed manual trd sport with 60 000 kilometers on it and just picked up a 20 foot hybrid travel trailer and I think with all the gear to go camping and to load on a ktm 300 xc room is getting tight. Didnt have plans to pick up a trailer in life but I did with a newborn and my best friend having the raptor. Plan on bringing the bike.to a few camp grounds and 2 mountain bikes and a strider when my new born is 2. Looking at ford f150, lm partial to the blue oval with owning 87 coupe 5.0 liter as my first car and just sold my 01 cobra vert to purchase the trailer. I like the looks of the chev, dodge and ford last. Dont care for chev anymore with the bailout and screwed share holders out of there money and now withe there faulty ignition switches. The new lady that took over doesnt want any part of it and says that was the old company and we are not doing diddly squat about it. Chev is out of the picture. Dodge I like was just in my friends sport nice and big roomy with the crew cab and power to boot, but my girlfriends 02 dodge neon was garbage so I bought the tacoma for us. I commute alot to work as an electrician so I doesnt make sense with the fuel. Leaves me stuck with a f150 5.0 dont want the eco, thinking of a 2011 supercrew with a 6 and half foot box or wait it out one summer and go with the 2015 design. That will piss my neighbor off she just got the eco. Piss my dad and make him jealous of the ford as he just took a retirement package from Gm as an electrician and has to buy a gm truck with his car voucher but wants the f150. Should I get an 2011 or wait out to get the 2015 in the spring when theres incentives on the pricing?

    2018 Ford F150 XLT 2.7 ecoboost!!!!
I couldn't agree with you more about buying a GM product. I just traded my 2011 Tacoma double cab 2.7 for a 2014 Tacoma 4.0 double cab auto with a towing package rated 6500 pounds. A very stout package for a mid size truck which may be conservatively rated as well. I do like the Fords and F150 is a good truck, before I bought my first Tacoma and my wife's 2013 Rav4 we mostly drove Fords. I however also nearly bought a 2014 Tundra SR with the 4.6, with even a higher tow rating then my Tacoma, this is an impressive truck that's fairly economical and I could get a better price then a comparable Ford or Dodge from my Toyota dealer. Ultimately, the 2014 Tacoma was my final answer because a better fit in my garage, easy to drive and the extra accessories purchased for the 2011 Tacoma transferred to the new truck. Finally, the resale percentage value of a Tacoma is remarkable and very hard to beat by anyone! Good luck! :)

Wait for the 2015 IMO. I think its a great truck and there is/was talks that they may add the 6.2 to the normal lineup.

Ya, I'll see after I take them for a test drive this week or on the the weekend and decide from there on the pricing and ride. Still a little bit loyal to the blue oval but the worse looking of them. Ill have to take out a Tundra also 5.7 but the fuel numbers arent so great. I think I can walk away from my truck and get a f150 or Hemi for the same price. My girlfriend is not to happy with the size of the full size but I think after one test ride of stepping on the happy pedal and the overall size of it she will be on board. She wasnt even to keen on the the tacoma from a neon and now she loves it

If you're gonna tow more than 1000lbs, get truck with a bigger engine.

I'll be seriously looking at the new GMC Canyon when it goes on sale this fall. It seems to have all the things I wish the Tacoma had, except the resale. Don't need or want a full size truck, so there is not a lot to choose from. If Toyota should announce a new Gen 3 then I may wait as I really like my Tacoma, but there is not enough improvement over my current 2010 to get me to buy another one that is essentially to same as the one I have.

I dont think I'll get to 10000 lbs, but I thought I would never buy a travel trailer also. Trailer weighs 3000 naked, gear, games and genorator 700 lbs tops. Ktm 300 and 200 or atv for the girl and 300 for me 700 lbs in the back. Just dont know whether I can wedge a 300 and a 400 4x4 in the box of a truck. Just want the bigger truck for down the road when I decide to sell this trailer and get a toy hauler for some harescramles and some trips to the USA in the future. When I buy things I plan for the long haul not 3 years of ownership then trade in then sell and loose my shirt. Im still mad that im going to wheel and deal the tacoma to a full size and might loose a few grand in the transaction.

my brother just picked up a new tundra and my dad has an 08. Trucks are solid. My dad tows his 24' trailer with ease. if you got a tundra in the double cab you would still have plenty of bed room.

Nothing wrong with an F-150, I would wait though for the 15's.

    ^^This.....

Towed about 2000lbs with my 4.0 taco yesterday and I was rather disappointed. I guess I am tainted for life after having 5.7 tundra but dam did that thing tow great and unless I was towing more than 4k plus lbs, I couldn't tell was even pulling anything. Only tow about 20 times per year, so can live with the Taco for now.

Wow, I routinely pull 2500lbs with my truck and it does great. I even used to pull close to that when I had my 2.7l and yeah, you wind it up on the hills but it wasn't bad. I tow thousands and thousands of miles a year between snowmobiling and fishing. I guess I may feel different if I ever owned a full size truck at some point but ignorance is bliss.

The only thing an ecoboost can't pass is a dealer
