today (thanks to member EndlessSummer) i swapped the blocks i had in the rear with Deaver AAL. the difference is unbelievable! i blamed the body roll and softness on the 5100's. on take off, its also more responsive and stiffer.

when i used to back out over high curb, the rear would rock back and forth a few times. really annoying.

few years ago the city installed a speed-bump on our street so i run over it EVERY time i leave and return to the house. used to jar everything with blocks, i could hear gear in the back bounce. (no i do not slow down for speed bumps!)

its been 1 day, and i can already notice the lack of body roll and hitting the speed-bump is like hitting it at full speed in BMW SUV, ya its stiffand you feel the intial bump, but the recoil is smooth, so now no "BAM" sound to it.

someone else mentioned before that they blamed the jolting on axle wrap and when they got rid of the blocks it went away, and i also mentioned before that i had that jolting to and i knew it was not axle wrap, but could not figure it out. it was the damn blocks!

i gained a little less than an inch in the rear, which is not too bad, now measurements from center hub to fender in front is still about 23" and a tad, and back is a hair under 24", but doesnt look bad.

the combo of the stiffer ironman coil overs and shocks in the front and the 5100's with Deaver AAL works very well!

    cheers,
    disco

Doesn't every thread on tw swear not to use blocks.

Glad you switched over and are having a pleasant experience. Nothing worse than being upset with your trucks performance after mods

i thing i have to mention, the member who wrote the great howto on installing AAL stated clearly to make sure you think of everything you may need ahead of time. and i swear i really thought i did, i had all my tools laid out, work space cleaned, jacks ready, even a spare jack if needed, had 2 sets of center pins just in case, i thought i had thought of everything.

    DOH!

forgot the U-Bolts, lol! had the long ones with the blocks installed, didnt think about that, that was my fault, just wanted to mention it for future peeps, dont forget to pick up some shorted U-bolts if ya removing the blocks :)

    cheers,
    disco

You do not slow down for speed bumps?

I have to question your intelligence. 1) it is not good for your vehicle. 2) speed bumps are usually in place for a reason... like residential areas and children.

Sorry. That's what stuck with me reading your post.

I speed up for speed bumps. Usually it's in shopping centers where I kind of wish everyone would die. I watch for kids and old people though.

Does the ground penetrating radar not pick up the speed bumps when you're running Ultra Dark Ops mode Romulan cloaking enabled ?

It un-cloaks when the radar is turned on. Everyone knows that.

    Really??? You think???

OP slow down for the speed bumps in your neighborhood. They are there for a fucking reason. Children playing is the first thing that comes to mind. We have a couple of people that run though our neighborhood at warp speed.... makes me wish I owned spike strips.

this is a touchy subject, the speed bumps are there because a city official forged documents to get the city to pay for them, then went to the FTA and made claims of success and convinced them to issues several million dollars in federal money to place them all over the city. he stole the money.

for a decade now the residents have signed petition after petition that they do not want them. i am the subdivision representative. i have spoken with the governor, the regional director of the FTA, Charles Boustany, head or LADOTD and several others. but no one outside of the city can do anything because this 'pilot' program used city funds.

NO THEY ARE NOT THERE BECAUSE OF SPEED PROBLEMS OR RESIDENTS WANTING THEM!

i got 100% (well almost, 1 person out of 1500 said he liked them) signed petition to remove them.

BUT that one guy said he would gladly sign to have them removed if the city would remove the 4-way yield signs and put back the 4-way stop signs. YUP! that idiots convinced the city to remove 4-way stop signs and put 4-way yield signs!

its a death waiting to happen, at least 5 times a week i have to run into someones yard to avoid a cross coming vehicle, because well, neither of us have to stop and the building and trees, etc extend to the corners, you have maybe 10' max where you can see around the corner, even at 10mph, 10' aint much...

    cheers,
    disco

BTW the city admin who did all this is TONY TRAMEL

all the kid jokes are kinda messed up, NO KIDS ARE IN ANY DANGER, NEVER WERE, STILL ARE NOT EXCEPT THE 4 WAY YIELDS.

when i say i do not slow down, i mean the speed limit is 30mph, i usually travel in the subdivision at 20mph to 25mph, like everyone else does. i refuse to come to a crawl every 10 seconds over some illegal devices, well everyone else things the same also. NO ONE slows down for these things, lol some people speed up even.

people have removed them themselves, the city puts them back, 1 night i had to stop a guy from setting them on fire do they melted! maybe that give you an idea of how much they were never wanted

anyway, ignore the idiots who made really offensive jokes concerning the children the important part to the thread and forum is, with the combination of suspension ia have now they are almost a non-issue as far as driving. as far as the legal fight they are by far a big issue still :)

    cheers,
    disco

10mph is very slow, the main problem is non residents who do not know and they see a yield and think the other person has to stop and continue through at normal speeds. myself and other residents are not the problem here...

no one sees a fault in a city admin. doing this to us, then stealing millions of federal dollars?

    cheers,
