    Yeah, as title says.

I can only afford 1 thing, but I can't choose.

    1) Welder. My friend and I both want a welder. He offered to match what ever I put in maybe $500-$700.

    2) 50" LED Curved Light Bar. Don't know what one yet.

    3) Cat-back Exhaust system. Don't know what one yet.

    4) TRD Rims. Probably going to get the bronze ones and paint them black. My tires I have on now will fit.

Those are the rims I'd like to get.
I plan on going Long Travel after my truck's payed off. I still have years...

I'd love to have all of those and probably will get them eventually, but I'm only going to get one for now. I'm going to keep all of them when I go Long Travel too.

For the price of either 1 of the three truck mods would buy a good welder without help from your friend. You buy your own welder he can borrow it until he can buy his own, which doesn't sound like it will be to long. I'm voting for the welder because, assuming you know how to use it, you could make some extra money and buy the other things you want. Think investment:D
I screwed up! I missed the part were your still making payments. Put the money from your welding jobs into paying down your truck loan.

What type of welder are you thinking about? MIG, TIG, or stick?

Get the welder. You can do something productive with it; the other stuff is just fluff.

Lol I don't know how to weld yet, but we have a coworker that knows how to. I work construction as my side job. He does all our welding work. I figured we could have a lot of practice before I get my LT kit too.

Get a welder. You can do so much more with one. Including making your own bumper or rock sliders

It takes so much more than just a welder to make parts like bumpers and sliders.

You would need a way to cut material:

    - Bandsaw
    - Plasma cutter
    - Shear
    - Pipe and tube notcher
    - Ironworker

You'd want to be able to form material:

    - Press brake
    - Tubing bender

    Then there's all the consumables:

    - Weld wire
    - Welding gas
    - Grinding wheels

Some guys are definitely able to pull this off in their garage, but it's a big undertaking to do it right.

If you really want to learn how to weld, take some continuing education classes at the local community college or BOCES.

They'll have better equipment than you could ever afford on your own, and it'll help you determine what you would really want if you ever bought your own machine.

Looks like I'm getting a welder lol.

I have a full size band saw I think it's about 6 foot high.
My grandpa has an old school tube notcher I could take if I wanted.
I have a tube bender too. It's really old I'd like to get a new one with NUMBERS at least lol!
I have a metal chop saw, a manual hydraulic press, Drill press and 3 different size Bench Grinders too as far as metal working machines/tools go that I can think of. My grandpa owned 2 Shell stations(Gas Stations). He has so many tools! They aren't shiny, but they work.
I'd like to get a plasma cutter too! Those things are fun lol

I have a really basic document that I created a few years ago just to familiarize some of the draftsmen in my company with welding.

If you want a copy of it, PM me your email and I'll send it to you.
