cut them down half as long and you still get protection and they are up far enough out of the way to not cause problems.

i ordered a new set of flaps. i think i over did it as i heard some rocks hitting against the bottom of the truck after cutting them back so far.

i'm going to shoot for a happy medium. of course stock size is too long and will scrape on things or even break off but i think i cut my flaps too short.

i'm going to trim the new ones 4" off front and rear making the fronts 8" long and rears 6" long. i think this will be the best length to use. they will be short enough not to catch on curbs and such but still long enough to provide protection from pebbles and gravel and so forth.

I cut 5" off front ones, 4" off back ones and haven't had a problem since.

I wish someone would design a mudflap for this truck, that has quick release clips or something that provides oem like protection under the truck, yet can be removed in 20 seconds without tools for a quick trail head expedition.

Or, taking this idea further, design some sort of quick release screw head or insert (don't ask me how, I'm not an engineer :) ) that would allow you to use any mudflap.

No mud flaps, most of the rock chips I have gotten are on the front side of my rear wheel well. No mud flap is going to help that.

cut the new ones 3.5" off the fronts making them 8.5" long. cut the rears 4" off because of the cheesy 4x4 BS getting in the way. i cut them right above the 4x4 making them 6" long.

i ordered a set of prerunner rear flaps and i'm going to cut them 2.5" making them 7.5" long to replace the rears though.

this will be perfect. :D 8.5" in the front and 7.5" in the rear.

i guess 9" in the front and 8" in the rear would work pretty well too though.

this will make the front flaps 9.5" off the ground (driver's side 9" off the ground because of taco lean :D) and the rears will be 10.5" off the ground. plenty enough to clear things like curbs and whatever but still long enough to provide good protection.

my truck is leveled out so a stock truck you could probably go a little shorter on the front flaps. maybe 7"-7 1/2" would be fine. my front end is lifted 1 1/2" so 8.5"-9" on the fronts works for me.

Regular length Rokblokz came in the mail today and installed them shortly after. I think they hit a happy medium between ultra stiff like the stock mud guards, and flappy like the ones with the naked ladies off the back of an 18 wheeler. I had my daughter bend them front and back for pics so you can see how bendable they are.

For me these are perfect and are exactly how they were described on their website when I ordered them. And they came with candy! Made me read the directions while I snacked on smarties.

The install is identical for the front and rear and they are adjustable a little out or in. I opted to mount them directly in the middle. They mounting is easy and really solid. Going for a clean look so I opted not to add the stickers that came with the flaps. I think it is great that I had the option to leave them off.

You can see the marks that the oem mud guards left. This is a '14 with only 9k miles.

Mine are the same regular length oversized tire kit from them, but they mount differently in the front:

i like those rokblokz. if something ever happens to my stock ones that is what i will go with.

i didn't care for the husky ones. they have that lip on the bottom that traps mud or snow and it builds up in there. the stock ones have a small lip too but after you cut them shorter the lip is gone so stuff easily slides off of them at the bottom.

You do not have the oversize tire kit. My front flaps mount to the outside of the flare...

Rokblokz is the way to go. Plus they can flex. Husky makes great floor mats but there mudflaps are ..... ugly. I'd rather spend more money & get it right the first time. Thanks Rokblokz for making such great Flaps!

Rokblokz are nice but rediculously overpriced for what is essentially a $0.50 cut out from a sheet of larger plastic and some hardware. If they were about half the cost I'd consider them. I've had my eyes in the husky ones but I'm worried they're too stiff if anything hit them (tree or rock)

Thank you for the guidance. These Rockblox mud guards are the best. I went with the shorter neater look with grey letters for obvious reasons. The wheels are as big as I can stuff in there and the stock were rubbing and the Rockblox we're also until. We put the heat gun to them and molded them in on the front. They look great! If you're doing a light bar make sure you seal underneath. Drop the headliner and use windshield putty. No more water. Thanks againIMG_20181101_101719707.jpg IMG_20181101_101719707.jpg IMG_20181101_101757918_HDR.jpg

Rokbolkz is the only way to go! You spend how much on your truck?? And you think these mats cost to much. You get what you pay for. +5 on Rokbolkz

They do cost too much. A $25 set of Plasticolor mudflaps and ten minutes of work gets the same job done way cheaper.

Plasticolor mugflaps are too small in my opinion. I paid over $30k for my truck & I'm not going to skimp on mudflaps. Does anyone regret buying the Rokbolkz mugflaps??
