Ok, I've decided through much thought that I want a Tacoma vs a Tundra. Main reason is fuel economy (66 mile round trip daily) and size constraint of my garage. I work production for Toyota, and sadly don't know as much as I should. I have gotten it down to 2 colors, white and Barcelona Red Metallic. I have to buy what the dealer has in stock (constraint set by Toyota Motor Sales) but i'm in luck because the dealer I am working with has one of each in stock.

Now to the point, should I get a Red TRD Sport or a White TRD offroad? They are the same price, Same options (respectively), I just cant decide which would be best suited for my needs.

The truck will see some MINOR off-road action. I won't be rock crawling, desert running, or hill jumping. Having the locking rear diff would be nice but not sure if I would gain much from it. I currently have a white S10 4x4 with open diffs and have never been stuck where I usually go, and I've been in some DEEP mud (to the doors) on occasion in the fields. Not sure what I could gain from the locking diff.

If you would, let me know what you think. TRD Sport/TRD Off-Road; White/Red; Locker/LSD. Thanks, sorry to be so long winded.

I partial to white dcsb. But the sport seems like it would suit your needs better.

White offroad for sure. With black rims. White stays cleaner longer and hides imperfections.

For what you're doing, you can save money. Buy the SR5
4x4 in your choice of colors. Add lift, and lockers aftermarket. You'll be money ahead.

i dont know if lockers are cheap in your area but i got quoted 5500+ tax for arbs front and rear installed.

go for the white offroad. ive got a sport and if i could have gotten a DCLB with offroad package i would have instead.

unless theyve changed the seating options recently i remember the SR5 (non-TRD) seats being complete shit and very uncomfortable.

    thats worth the upgrade alone.

Cant go wrong with either one, just buy the one you like more. IMO, I'd rather have better off-road options, than fake scoops & turn-signal mirrors. You wont be disappointed with any Tacoma:)

Get the Off Road! I love mine, only thing that would make it a perfect truck is if I could have got a DCLB.

http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/lockers.html So half your quote in parts; install, a few hours of mechanic time, should be a little above 3K total. Granted, I'm local so I don't have to pay shipping, but I'd have to pay sales tax. Shop around.

I've got my offroad and enjoy it. But I can't say the seats in my 2010 off road are very good either. Seat complaints seem pretty universal to the 2nd gen tacomas.

For the type of driving you described I doubt you will ever need the locker. The color is just a preference but I like the white. For the same price I would say get the OR

I'd get the offroad as it offers additional function where the sport is all looks.

That said, I would not enjoy owning a white vehicle... that is purely due to personal preference so take it with a grain of salt.

Edit: Also Congrats on the upcoming Taco purchase!

Not to mention white and silver are the easiest colors to sell down the road

I have a red (radiant) on my 2006. I have a white 4Runner. Both are lifted...both are great colors....but the red with black wheels, and blacked out badges looks incredible. My 4Runner has the TRD Anthracites and blacked out badges too.

You won't go wrong with either choice. Good problem to have.

If you plan on keeping it for a long time, white paint should hold up better.

No point in getting a Sport because they don't come with true mechanical LSD anymore.
