Well pick up tubes arent going to really matter that much what does the oil inlets to the block look like the 2gr pic i posted is more thsn likly the only compatible pan due to the oil filter locations for the oil pump. I was thinking about having a oil pump deleate plate/housing made. So we can bypass/ deleate the current pump and use the filter hole location as the block inlet on the underside of the dry sump pan. Do you know if the 4runner pump can be installed on the tacoma?

    Just looked at your post.

I guess though we could also use the pick up tube inlet to the block off plate as its a larger opening.

Here are 2GRFE oil pump pics.

So from the looks of it the oil is pumped out of the 1GR timing cover through that tube to the filter then into the engine at another point. The 2GR goes directly from the pump to the block on the inside of the timing cover since the filter is located on the bottom of the pan. So the 1GR would also need a oil filter delete tube. Do you know where the oil goes to after it exits the timing cover?

I'm guessing since the oil goes up to the water pump on the 2gr its suppose help cool off the oil. Im guessing in a 4.0L truck motor its going to need a bit more cooling. Might go to a water oil cooler?

We might be able to get away with modding the timing cover or current oil pump plates to by pass and remove the old oil pump gear.

So it goes out to a inverted oil filter and through the timing covers water section then right back into the block. So how hard is it to delete the filter?

you would have to block off the oil filter housing with a plate and run the oil into the spot on the front of the timing cover. Its already tapped with a screw in it.

Take out the pump gears and remove pick up tube.

Deleting the filter would be a simple plate

Green would be the block off plate. (Tapped for oil sensor?) And red is where u would run the new oil line from pump.

Well that would work too so the 1GR just needs a filter block off and a plug in the pan, the 2GR needs a bit of work done to the pump housing.

    below is for reference

why not just do something like this:

of course it would specific to the motor and have the input instead of a sender unit. A plate with a tapped hole in it for oil inlet, easy.

O different angle cant see the hole. So the 1GR doesn't need jack but a plate.

Just a plate to block off the oil filter.

thank you! you guys are lucky this is much easier for your engine than it is the 2grfe.

OK now back to the block.

The 2grfe have oil drain tubes from the heads 6 in total but only 5 extend down to the pan. How does the 1GR look is it a similar situation?
