Anyone seen any info as to be able to add Blind Spot Monitor to a Tacoma? Mother Toyota has nothing. Have a new Sienna and it's the very best accy yet. Very much needed as I get older.
    .......................
From Sienna: Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
It’s like a second set of eyes. Even when your Sienna's outside mirrors are properly adjusted, you still may have trouble seeing cars to the side and rear of you in the next lane. Using radar technology, the available Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) 10 with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) 11 can help warn you that a vehicle is there by illuminating an indicator on the appropriate outside mirror.

$3 and these work amazingly well ;)

Electronics can fail. Mirrors "usually" don't. Neither does turning your head :)

That's like saying "oh you can't see when you drive, you can drive anyways." If you can't do all the functions to perform a task, do you think that you should really be performing that task?

I just find that these inventions of blind spot monitoring, tire pressure monitoring, vehicles that brake for you, alert you when you're drifting from your lane. I think that these things are going to make people complacent when they drive and rely on them. If you're not able to stay in your lane, look in your blind spot. Wouldn't you think that you'd want to consider not driving?

You say that in the future tense. Truth is, they've already made people complacent behind the wheel.

That being said though, if the OP has a legit reason behind wanting to add a feature, there's nothing wrong with it. I have more of a problem with them being forced into every vehicle. I find there's a difference between someone willing to go out of their way to add a safety feature to make a task easier on them vs. companies loading the vehicle up with them standard so no one has to pay attention any longer if that makes any sense...

Why do people hate on all these systems so much?

Do seat belts make you complacent?

Blind spot on a mini van is much worse than a Tacoma. With properly adjusted mirrors i do not need one. I remember my grandpa failed the Wi. driving test because he did not move his head. He told the LEO that he moved his eyes. LEO said he could not see his eyes.

Okay... so I've got to ask this once again. These are fool proof and $3. You can not be surprised by the car next to you because it reflects in the convex MIRROR!!!

Someone please explain how these will not work? I have never ever had a issue with them?

I think it's pretty pathetic that every time someone asks for advice of some sort, there's an immediate $hit storm from everyone who doesn't agree with the request for advice. People need to lighten the phuck up and mind their own business. Rant off...

i have thought about intergrating them onto a tacoma (probably not mine)
shouldnt be hard, the question/problem is spending the $$$ you can get the mirror alone (just mirror not case, harness etc) and it fits the tacoma so it has the little indicator, but the sienna has the sensors on the rear bumpers and ive checked toyota and theyre expensive
so what i was going to do is make some myself and mount them somewhere :notsure:

i have these too, life savers especially with rear fiberglass bedsides because i cant see the car behind me at a light or stop from them being wide but i can see them with those small mirrors
or when backing up at a parking spot as well

I like these because they adjust separately from the actual mirror so you can set them up just like you like them.
