I removed mine years ago. Now I have a lot of rock dings on the doors and bed sides. I still don't like the looks of mud flaps on trucks though.

Looks clean. I would have kept my front ones on but would not work with 33" tires.

I find that they get caught on everything. Even with the bad winter that we had this year. I ripped part of one off at the back and clipped the corner of the front, passenger on the ice. $89.00CDN for one is ridiculous.

I only cut off three inches, we will see how that works in the sand. I would love to just take them off, but don't want to kill my paint job!

I cut all but an inch off of mine, and then pop riveted a real rubber mudflap from Napa onto the outside. That way I can keep the protection, still have a nice mounting area in the wheelwell, but give the flexibility over objects. I've only done it to the front for now, but may eventually do it on the rears too.

Nothing fancy, just used aluminum pop rivets (or stainless to prevent rust) and the mudflaps were almost twice the size they appear to be from Napa, I believe about $10 each.
I could have probably trimmed the plastic OEM ones more, but figured I'd try this first. I could always come back and cut more if I wanted them shorter.

    Some stuff...
I removed mine (singular) after losing one to a snow berm parking experience this winter, and replaced them with rubber flaps cut down a bit. So far, so good and no complaints. There are a couple of threads here on recommendations for replacement flaps......
