I wouldn't touch it. You know how I feel about Toyotas anemic manual transmissions and vsc.

All that said I'd get an extended warrant for sure and inspect the Heck out of the frame for rust and damages. Car fax is clear on my truck and its been through hell.

Oh and look for wear marks. Those miles are suspiciously low and we know it only takes 2min to unhook the odometer or turn it back.

Take a good look over it and take it for a good test drive! Also take an OBDII scanner to check for any codes.

My 2009 tacoma has 40,000 miles..Why would 52,000 miles be any concern?...I thoroughly enjoy my Anemic 6-speed manual transmission..Price would be my concern.

I really like the manual, seems decent to me if you can get them to knock the price down a bit.

Agreed ... doesn't seem suspicious to me.

x2 ... in your east coast market there should be room to negotiate that price down.

Finally, your friend couldn't find a better wingman to go truck shopping with him.

    simple math....

    5 years multiplied by 15,000 miles = 75,000

The truck is 23,000 under the national average.

I guess you guys didn't know that it literally takes 2 minutes to unhook one wire harness in your engine bay and your ODO no longer functions and no one can tell via the computer. I hope you're not the kind of people who actually believe odometers?

I'd trust carpet, gas, and brake pedal wear before a POS Toyota ODO.

I know quite a few people who should have WAY more miles then theirs show.

The six speed is proven to be much more problematic than the auto... ask the OP. He's spending almost 20% of the initial truck cost to modify his manual tranny.

Or maybe he just didn't drive a lot? Or maybe the truck sat on the lot for a year?

You could roll back any odo...

In case you missed the moral of this thread is to tell OP things to look out for when buying used. Anyone who knows their shit about buying used knows to look for signs a vehicle has more miles than listed, but I think 1/2 of you are clueless

    I swear I hate society...........

I searched for months for a used Tacoma. The resale value is so high that it made it just not worth it to me to buy used and risk a problem. You can get 3-4k off the sticker on a new truck if you haggle a bit. I would never pay that much for a used car you just never know what happened to it. I bought a used CRV for 17k back in 2005. Seemed fine on the lot but I got it home and noticed some body panels didnt line up. Started taking apart the car and got see see fresh welds under the carpet and all kinds of signs of repair. Carfux was clean as a whistle. 1 owner and 22k miles.

Save up tell you can buy new is my advice. Not a single problem with my 2013 since I bought it. My dad has bought 4 used cars since I bought my truck. 1st was a lemon 2nd is in and out of the shop under warranty 3rd had electrical problems and has just been traded in on his 4th car in 2 years. Carfax looked fine on all of them.

I hate to tell you but a dealer can repair a brand new car on the lot and not disclose it if the cost to repair is under $5000 iirc.

We had a brand new 2014 Rogue come into our shop after one of their sales guys drove it into another car on the lot and the whole front end was pretty much ruined. We ended up replacing the bumper, hood and both fenders. There's no way in hell they would tell you about that.

Then there was a story about a manager at a dodge dealership who took a brand new Viper out for some donuts before the customer who ordered the car even saw it.

Like XXXX said you need to check every car even if it is brand new unless you watch it roll off the truck when it is delivered.

Edit: I just remembered what happened to owner of the company I work for lol. He ordered a brand new BMW 600? convertible and when it showed up his wife got it because he was in Alberta for business. When he got back the car was the wrong colour...
