So I'm going to bump this a couple of times this weekend. Maybe a few more folks will look at it and save it for themselves and the Dealership.

You can bump it all you want. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and it's still early in the morning but did I read that they say 6.1Qt's in the Tacoma?

Owners manual clearly states 5w-30 at 5.5Qts. Not sure where you found this information. The only part I agree with is the 5k change interval. Other than that I'll stick with what the owners manual calls for.

Well I don't think there is a conflict. If you have a 4.0 1GR-FE engine. Note 4 on the TSB states 5.5 qts for 4x4 and Pre-Runner and the TSB says 5W-30. It states 6.1 Qts. for the 2TR-FE. Rear View do you have the 4 cylinder or the 6. Maybe that is the problem. You have to look at note 4 at the bottom of the page.

I just fill mine up until I see oil in the fill tube. That won't hurt anything, will it? ;)

Don't think I've ever seen a V6 2WD that was NOT a PreRunner. Do they have a shallower oil pan ? Less ground clearance ?

Also, comparing the 3 different variations, it looks like the 4 cylinder oil filter is .7qt capacity, the V6 2wd not PreRunner is .4qt, and the PreRunner/4wd is .3qt. One of the V6's may be a misprint.

I've not seen oil filters for any other engine than the 6cyl. and it is fairly small but to be honest with you I really don't know about the oil filters and their capacities. Maybe someone else can answer your question.

All the oil capacity numbers are just reference info for buying oil (and for mechanics pumping in bulk oil from a hose). The dipstick is the final authority - it even says this in the owner's manual.
