So my 2008 tacoma got hit 2 days ago. A lady with a suspended license and warrant for her arrest

I was on the far right 3rd lane with the right of way.

She made a left turn in front of me into a business that was on my side of the street. I was going between 20-25mph. She hit me pretty hard i kept some momentum but my axle and wheel broke. I lost control slid over to the left lane and hit a brand new 2014 Dodge Durango.

Most importantly everyone involved was OK. However my truck and the durango not so much.

I am waiting on my insurance to tell me what they are going to do. What do you guys think the damage is $$$?

Looks like that front axle and suspension was damaged, front panel, dents and scratches all the way to the back. Also the guys in the tow truck measure the rear wheel and said it was pushed in about 4 inches...

    Here are the pictures

Here you can kind of see how the rear tire is pushed in a bit

Here is the poor new durango r/t i hit with my plate bumper at like 5-10 mph

Here is a better close up of the panel damages

Keep in mind the rear axle was pushed in about 4 inches as well.

I guess i'll just have to wait and see.

The All-Pro Bumper did it's job, slight damage to the bumper, but it absorbed most of the impact.

Assuming your frame is straight, it won't be totaled. It might be pretty expensive, but I doubt it's totaled.

Nice grill btw. Where did you get it?

I doubt they'll total it, but no matter what , it still sucks that it had to happen.

On another note, this should be a sales ad for All Pro. The plate bumper looks to have saved you from a lot more damage and the bumper looks like it came out unscathed except a few scratches.

Check the frame at the point where the rear a-arm hinge is located. I bet there is a kink in the frame at that point.

Better plan on shopping for a new one or buying that one back and repairing it yourself.

I think I can safely say that the frame is bent. My last 3 Toyota trucks had the same damage or very similar. They were totaled out by the previous owners and I bought the trucks to repair.

I don't have a problem being proven wrong. I'm sub'd for the results.

    Later

dude, I'm sorry to hear about your accident! Glad you and everyone else are ok. Just like everyone else is saying, if the frame is straight, chances are it won't be considered totaled. Good luck with everything.

Quite often that kind of accident will "diamond" the frame. Your comment about the axle being off in the rear has me thinking this.

Regardless, I'm hopeing for a good turn out for you.

What I wonder about with plate bumpers and accidents is how much energy goes straight into the frame perhaps causing frame damage that might not have occurred otherwise...

Thanks for your concerns. Luckily everyone was okay, i went to a chiropractor to get an adjustment, doesn't seem to be bad. Just a little sore.
