Let the girlfriend take the truck camping and she smashed the oil pan on a rock.. ok it was me.

Shes cracked with about 5 drops a minute leak.

It is a holiday in Canada today, but I called Toyota in the states and they want roughly $65 for a new pan and $14 for some silicone gasket.

I will attempt this job myself. Can anyone point me in a direction?

My plan is to remove the bolts, pry the pan off, clean old gasket material off both sides, run a 1/4 bead around the pan, allow some set up time, install and just barely tighten, allow a little more set up time and torque down.

I dont have a torque wrench but I might be able to borrow or buy one if need be.

    Specs?

Appreciate all the info in advance.

    Thanks

    1. Jack it up
    2. Drain the oil
    3. Take the bolts holding the pan on(may need small prybar to gently pry it off and prepare to get a bit dirty with oil)
    4. Clean edges of both with razor and brake cleaner, surface must be dry and oil-free
    5. Put silicon on pan(inside of the bolt holes)
    6. Bolt it back up
    7. Tighten it evenly so silicon sits properly.(unsure of torque but if evenly done, it will be fine)

I've used this too many times on my diffs not to recommend it. NEVER a leak or a problem.

Thanks guys, borrowed a torque wrench from a neighbor.

I think we're good to go.
