you will probably have the same problem as you age some. I know I did and several other people on the forum have also said so. The arthritis, the aches and pains, getting stuck in traffic. etc. etc. Hence the auto for me. You can argue and debate auto versus stick, but my knee seems to always win.

i don't think a clutch would be any fun in that d.c. traffic.

Honestly, I have unlimited sick time. (yea big Pharma!) But you just can't abuse it. I'm sure this is not abuse, so I'm good. I still hate to sit here and not work. I'm doing some stuff from home, and yes, I'm on my work computer right now.:D

Most the traffic I deal with is in VA :p

Seriously though, last year my office moved from Alexandria to DC and now the Tacoma is just parked at home except for weekend HomeDepot runs.

OP, I agree with the age thing.. recently I've been feeling like I'm falling apart and the only thing I can come up with is age :(

Did the same thing right after buying my old 6 spd. Didn't drive for a couple weeks, but was sort of good to drive after that. Well, until the knee needed surgery the next year. Get better.

I understand. I think the reason I have accumulated over 500 hours of sick leave is because I rather be sick at my desk than be sick and watch daytime television.

Yep, I was glad I had gone to auto after dislocating ankle. Autos are also much better in mud. Go in to a mud hole in too high a gear and you will be looking to a tow. Also you can rock an auto.

How do you get your torque converted without having a torque converter?

    In my opinion.

    Disadvantages:

    Technical off-roading ("wheeling")
    Gets worse mileage
Slower in a straight line unless you're towing.
    Can suck in traffic

    Advantages:

    Not an auto
    Way more fun to drive
    Better for towing

I rode my Suzuki GS1100 for about 450 miles with a broken clutch cable. Just power shift the thing!

There is no such thing as automatic. You still have to move a shift lever, just less often.

Well, next week's MRI should tell me more, but looks like knee surgery is in my future. SO...... I've decided to solve my problem of not being able to drive the manual, by renting a car for the next month or 2. Wife thinks I'm an idiot for trading my auto in on the 6 speed. Can you blame her???? LOL:smack:

NOT better for towing. Autos these days are stronger than manuals and in passenger trucks they are recommended for towing over manuals
