Shitty to have to go through, but what a bonus in the end! Is the new frame coated with something special?

Hell with that....if my frame gets bad...i want them to get me a frame, let me powder coat and fully restore it, then they can put it on while i watch. I'm not giving up my truck.

I got the service dept guy @ my local dealership to fax me this frame plug part list for a 2013 Tacoma. Now if someone would go through this parts list and pick out the part #'s for the plugs pertaining to the front wheel wells, that would be awesome.

Mine qualifies....but I don't think I have extensive rust issue. Granted, I haven't crawled under it lately  Only have 65K miles on it (07 in PA)

I'll have to keep an eye out for some info in the mail.

    Awesome info! Thanks!

    Long time lurker here,

I was curious if anyone had thoughts if I should remove my bolt on sliders before the inspection. I did drill ten hole for those guys and the dealership knows I have them, not sure if they are aware of the drilling though or how that affects this recall/warranty.

I would. Just to be sure. That way they more than likely won't notice the extra holes

Remove it a week or two before too. that way some surface rust will form and make it less obvious

First post, but thought I'd contribute. My 2005 DC TRD 4X4 failed today and is still at Copeland Toyota in Brockton, MA. I have been trying for years to get the rust addressed, so I feel a little relieved and will have some closure. I got under the truck with the Tech and have a good picture that I can post.

Ironically Boch South did not find this two months ago. But that's a whole other story...

I can only imagine how bad the service department is over there. I have good luck in parts, and my brother had a very bad experience with sales.

What I am a little surprised was that the last I was there to get parts (last week), that had a least 20 Tacoma's in the parking lot, that I can assume where there for the LSC. They even had a couple of old frames in the back.

I agree - the parts guys are great and very customer service oriented. But the service desk guys were not that great (I am purposely being vague). And how that missed this hole I don't know. There is now way this appeared in two months.

Dropped my '05 taco off last night at Balise in West Springfield, MA. Got a call at 9:30am saying they'd inspected and found my frame was okay (only needed a recoat). I was shocked since it stains my garage floor every time it rains. Sure enough, I got a call an hour later saying the manager reviewed and found a hole in the rear. I will be without my truck for approximately 2-3 weeks while they install a brand new frame w/control arms. I too purchased cleaner, coating, and scotch pads to do it myself. Thank god I'm lazy. They offered a free rental but all they had was a Camry and I have an Acura ILX for a commuter. They put me on the waiting list for a tacoma loaner but I won't hold my breath for that! :)

Seems like on the V6 trucks, right next to the cat. converters on the frame. But it could happen anywhere where road debris (salt) can sit (like the front body mounts).

    Okay, good to know.

Edit: I did know that it could happen at that specific spot, but I really didn't think it happened too often on the 2.7's. Its funny, that's the one spot that didn't have rust on the frame of my truck.

Mines going in Friday for it's inspection. The're going to have fun cleaning all the fluid film off it if they undercoat it.
