Has anyone here had their truck done in WV yet. I am contemplating on going. I have checked my frame out no rust hold that I could find, but towards the rear axle where the frame starts up I did notice that the rust has swelled between the members.

    WARNING

The CRC Coating is Not Designed to Dry

A week ago I had submitted a customer service request to Toyota directly. I just talked with Nicole (Toyota) regarding my issue and the coating being spotty and the frame not being properly prepped. She then got the dealer on the call and we arranged to have my truck re-inspected by the dealer in a week.

In our discussion however about the fact that my frames are still wet and tacky and the coating can be wiped and scratched off....

Both Toyota (Nicole) and the Dealer acknowledged the coating is not designed to dry and will never dry.

I'm now very distraught at this since my frames had been in very good condition to begin with. My whole thought process was to keep them that way. I have no desire to have an inch of muck permanently picking up leaves and dirt and being unable to service anything on my frames ever again.

This should not be a recall/procedure taken lightly by anyone. I wish I had been told up front what to expect.

    Stock for now...
I can bet anything it will not dry , ever - and you're correct that it will start collecting crap on it making everything worse . Not to mention , who wants to do oil changes or any other work under something that is coated like that ? You'd have to wear a set of painter's coverall's just to change oil without destroying your clothes - this fix isn't even a decent band-aid , it's a bad Corporate joke .

Personally , need a class-action lawsuit and raise enough noise so they'll stop screwing around already .

just talked to the dealer. i am officially getting a new frame. service guy was talking a month before it's in. based on the comments here, i'd say a lot longer.

    This should be fun.

Just received the call....new frame! 6 weeks but I can wait. Just need to think about what other parts to replace - thinking motor mounts. I inquired about how long it would take because I was thinking of grabbing some parts and having them powder coated quick. said two guys, approx 2-3 days per truck.

he mentioned shocks and struts. if they are reasonable i'll go ahead with those.

i also asked for a quote on the clutch since it's at 110,000 miles.

also might be a good time to replace my rear fenders. both are dented as is the bumper from some minor incidents.

might as well take advantage of as much free labor as possible

mine just "barely" failed due to a small hole mid frame. i didn't see it in person, but being that i preferred a replace to spray, i didn't ask questions.

mine is now currently scheduled to sit for a month...

like you, my original thought was to drive it. then i thought about it. i don't "need" a truck. it's just what i choose when i bought it.

i decided to take the loaner because it's putting miles on somebody else's car. it's fully covered under my insurance as if i owned it. wreck. pay the deductible if it's my fault and take the next loaner. i guess i care about door dings now tho. ha. and finally, i decided to take the loaner, because i enjoy driving different things. i'm not buying a new car any time soon, so it's like having a new car with out having a new car payment. better gas mileage. and lastly, it's just fun.

they orginally offered a highlander, but i choose the 2015 camry. i may call and see i can swap in a week or two

the service advisor mentioned the same, did shocks front/rear last year so they should be good. I am thinking about items that I am less likely to tackle in my own garage that's why I am thinking motor mounts and maybe polyurethane body mounts. It would be nice if they stripped it down on monday and gave me a few days to clean up some parts before putting it back together. Not trying to take advantage of the dealer but more of the opportunity of my truck being disassembled.
No mention of loaner until the frame is in but I'm ok with that since my garage is better than outside at the dealer for the next 6 weeks.

just talked to the guy about shocks... 479 for the front (244 labor/235 parts) and 202 (parts only) for the rear. the labor is two hours for spring work. option to source my own parts.

1800 for the clutch no discount there for labor.

i won't be doing the clutch. debating on sourcing shocks and paying the cover charge to have them put on.

he believes all the frame parts will be in within 3 weeks, but is being conservative by saying a month. i still think it will be longer. we'll see.

On my way back to WV Wednesday I passed a semi on I70E towards Cambridge, OH hauling a flat bed with 8 new Tacoma frames on it.

Am I missing something here?? The Clutch work I can understand the labor being added - but the shocks and springs all have to be removed and reinstalled on the new frame anyway ???

i asked the same question. the labor was to dismount the springs from the old shock and remount the springs to the new shocks. it was an hour per spring.

I would look into getting stock take offs in the classifieds and dropping them at the dealer already assembled.

And I guarantee you it takes them no more than 15 minutes total to swap the springs out..... 2 hours is ridiculous

I paid $300 labor to get my clutch done, thats 3 hours and that included doing the rear main seal. The engine/tranny are out of the truck already. All they have to do is split them, unbolt the clutch/flywheel and replace them.

Sounds like they are trying to take you for a ride.

To keep from having to read all 50+ pages....Is the recall still limited to 05-08? Has the list of states widen to include NC?

I checked under my 2005 today and found some spots that are in question. Doesn't seemed to be crumbling. Thoughts?
