My two dogs leave an amazing amount of hair in the back seat, even though a I put a blanket down on the rear seat.

So I ordered a refurbished Dyson DC44 from Amazon.

    http://www.dyson.com/vacuum-cleaners/cordless/dc44.aspx

It comes with two different motorized heads. The smaller one eats dog hair for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I can do the whole truck (double cab) with ease on one charge.

The machine is nice and light, and maneuverable. Highly recommend.

Good to know. Dyson makes great products. Do you find it easy to get into the tight spaces with it? That's where I have a real hard time getting dog hair with my shop vac.

It definitely gets in tighter spaces than a shop vac, and the motorized brushes make it better at picking up dog hair than a shop vac.

What's a refurbished one run? Around $230? I'm not doubting it works great, but that's a high price to pay to just remove dog hair IMO.

When ever I transported my in-laws dogs, I'd throw down a blanket, shop vac what I could and use a "tape" lint roller to grab what's left behind. Simple and effective. Plus cheap. :D

To each his own though. Glad you like it.

It was around $230, but it gets used all over the house too. It has an extension tube that lets you get everywhere. The cordless convienence is unbeatable.

Shop vac doesn't work anywhere near as good on dog hair. That stuff really holds onto the seat material. You need motorized brushes to really get it out. Neither does the lint roller. (I've done both)

For dog owners who always have their buddies in the back seat, this thing could be a godsend. Just figured I'd throw it out there.

I've not had a problem getting hair off the seats, but have major problems getting it out of the carpet.

Probably has something to do with the type of hair.

Our long hair dog is easy to clean up after, but the short haired guy is tough. Those little hairs stick into the seat fabric, so the motorized brushes really help with pulling it out.

Ever try getting some rubber gloves, the long ones like you would use for cleaning toilets, and sweeping the hair up? I saw it on youtube so I tried it and it works. the tacky rubber grips the hair and you can literally use you hand to sweep the hair into piles.

Takes 2 minutes to put in and 2 minutes to take out. Folds up in a small bag. It also creates a larger area for my dog to lay down. Being a hammock, it extends the seats so his legs aren't falling down between the front and back seats. I take him up in the mountains with me a lot though, so it really saves my seats.

    I do this:

No dog hair on the seats. I just take the piece of indoor/outdoor carpet out every once in a while and shake it out (or hose it off if it's really dirty). I looked into those hammock things but didn't like the idea of stopping fast and my dog sliding forward off the seat. Cost was only a few bucks in a scrap piece of carpet.

Definitely lots of great input in this thread. I'm happy with the vacuum, but lots of these ideas are great.

I bought a Dyson for $50 st a neighbors garage sale after taking home and testing on Karastan wool rug. Cat hair that I use to have to use a special brush to get off came right up. Best purchase I ever made.

Actually the hammock makes a "U" shape. This is one of the reasons I like it. It prevents my dog from sliding off the seat. I'm sure he appreciates the added stability when I'm in the hills. It's also waterproof.

My bigger dog likes to sit on the sit, with his front paws on the floor, then rest his head on the center console. That way I can scratch his ear while I drive. He's no dummy.

With the setup I have, my lab used to do the same thing. He'd put his head on the center consol but laying down. Same idea but my guy is a little lazier.

My guy is mostly Aussie, so he's sometimes too antsy to lay down. Haha
